I have been working at Investacorp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work environment, fair treatment, great work-life balance, very family oriented staff. If you are looking to advance or take on additional tasks, management and your team will notice due to the size of the company.

    Cons

No room for advancement is very limited. Over 1/3 of the employees have been with the company for more than a decade. This leads to some departments not evolving and streamlining workflows.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to recognize the hard workers.

    Pros

My experience at Investacorp has been positive. Many long term employees that take care of clients well. Sr. Management has also been in place for many, many years which creates sense of stability. I've worked at larger organizations, with pressures to meet goals and Investacorp values family life. Management is not going to give opportunities to employees that do not strive to achieve more in their careers. I can't speak for salary of other employees, but I'm paid fairly for my job and experience.

    Cons

Unhappy employees that will be unhappy anywhere they go. Many long term employees that do not have other firm experiences and are resistant to change. Not enough to give it negative remarks considering we're dealing with people.

    Advice to Management

The company has a handful of gems as employees. Because they do such a good job more work is placed on their shoulders. It's time to weed out the bad apples and bring in some fresh new blood.

I worked at Investacorp (More than a year)

    Pros

None at all....terrible company...do not work with them.

    Cons

They do not follow FINRA regulations at all. They make up their own rules. Each person will answer a question differently than the next. They are rude and condescending not only to reps, but to clients. Not all associates speak English fluently.

    Advice to Management

Quit the field. You all are horrible. Or hire someone that actually knows how a Broker/Dealer is supposed to be run.

    Pros

Family friendly company that puts resources and tools available to grant employees opportunities to advance their career growth by offering security license sponsorship. Supports a work-life balance environment thru flexible work schedules.

    Cons

Employees seeking growth within the company and seeking economic stability may feel discouraged by the imbalance of power and lack of actions to demand fair wages. CEO's leadership is questionable at times of disagreement among management when immediate action is required. Ongoing mystery of dissolvement of funds acquired through Sponsor Companies. Deficiency in moral sense reflected through the end of the year employee appreciation bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Professional experience and demand of ethical courses should be encouraged to current management, employees, and for new hires in order to "Bend Over Backwards" and offer the quality service Representatives demand.

I have been working at Investacorp full-time

    Pros

Trusting management doesn't micro-mange you; realizes that they hired you because they thought you were a good fit for the job and they trust you to do it correctly. They understand that you have a life outside of the office and sometimes that needs to be handled before work so that you can concentrate on work when you are in the office. Small company allows you to hone your career skills and also learn about the broker/dealer industry.

    Cons

Long-time employees seem a bit complacent. Some salaried employees take advantage of not having to clock in / out. Small company doesn't allow for upward mobility. Company direction and focus is not disclosed.

    Advice to Management

Need more communication regarding each individual's performance and job status as well as more than once per year 'state of the company' meetings.

I have been working at Investacorp full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

High payout (which means very limited vested interest in each rep)
Fluent in Spanish (bc English is basically a 2nd language)

    Cons

-Hard to communicate in fluent English with most back office employees
-Back office turn time on requests are extremely slow
-Terrible technology which leads to consistantly lost documents and files
-Duties that should be handled by Execs are often passed off on less experienced employees with no real experience
-Most responses from back office is "not my yob" and you are pushed to another department
-For a small back office support staff, Execs are at arms length, but hide behind "layers" of employees to not have to handle concerns from Reps... (those layers are basically their assistant)

    Advice to Management

If you really want to be a "national player" treat your reps with the respect they deserve because without them, you do not have a job. Real advice, do your job and stop passing it off on less experienced staff and you will get better results (assuming the execs are actually qualified themselves)

    Pros

It is a fun work environment, people are easy to get along with and the attire is very casual. Thats about it.

    Cons

If you are a good employee management will continue to pile work on you, but no raise. If you make one single mistake you are immediately singled out. The benefits are not great. Work attire is casual as I said above, but some people take it overboard and dress like they are going to the club.

    Advice to Management

Dont make operational decisions without consulting them with the staff first. Learn to work as a team instead of being so cut throat towards each other.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

The best reason to work at Investacorp is to not have to worry about progress in technology and technical challenges.

    Cons

    - insufficient budget for new projects
    - insufficient staff for all projects
    - insufficient/inadequate hardware to suppor the company
    - very high pressure to perform without giving the tools to perform

    Advice to Management

Spend the necessary money to obtain the results you want. You will not get the results you want by simply pitching employees against each other.
Also evaluate the competence and output of old timers, senior and non-senior. IT department is pretty much left to its own devices, and this generate infinite stress and no productivity.
