Poor management/bad direction

Pros

each office has it's own family, being a part of that family is great. In the tech industry you get your hands on many different technologies. This is a great place to learn.

Cons

If you are wanting a job that you retire from, keep looking. This is one of those "work em till they burn out" type employers. 50 hour works weeks are pretty much mandatory, and you are at the beckon call of sales and customers at every waking hour (and even non-waking hours). If your tech position requires on call, get ready for some VERY long weeks. $100 a week is the compensation is all you get in exchange for nightly calls and ruined weekends. Your expected to be at work at 8am even if you were up all night working an issue. The biggest issue is the way management roles out changes, whether they are for a new product, or reworking the layout of how teams are made. They make decisions in a vacuum without asking anyone that works with a product or on a team for input. Once they make a decision they set a tight deadline, and come hell or high water you are making that deadline, regardless of what or who it affects. One of the offices lost all 10 of their technical staff due to poor management decisions. Last nit pick, they slashed benefits. You accrue PTO pretty slowly, and their health insurance is a joke. You can literally find better insurance for cheaper on the private market.

Pros

Good group of people with a very involved management team. People are given quite a bit of latitude and success or failure is up to you. Growing very quickly and are looking to branch into new markets.

Cons

People are being pulled into to many directions lack of focus. Pay is sub-par to others in the industry, benefits are lacking, and they need to work on their "processes" Every department is frustrated with all the steps there are to get anything done. There is a lack of a streamlined process. For a company this size decisions should be made more quickly. The company still operates as they did when they only had one datacenter so there is a lack of delegation and trust in letting people make decisions.

Pros

Involta is a great place to get your hand on a lot of different technologies and develop your skillset in your area of expertise. At the end of the day, the people working for this company always come together to get the job done - there are some really awesome people working for this company and they are involved with their surrounding communities.

Cons

- Pay is well under industry standard (Yearly merit increases were 2-3% regardless of performance) - Getting a promotion is extremely difficult. (Mostly because lower management doesn't really know how to structure a team.) - Benefits seemed to get worse year over year (and they weren't great to begin with) - While there are a many amazing people working for this company, there are quite a few who are just dead weight and do the absolute bare minimum, most of them are customer facing which doesn't look good. - Management team could be better.
