I have been working at Iovation Inc full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Execs are open and willing to engage in conversation about how to make things better. They are good people and really do care. iovation is a leader in the fraud market and only getting stronger with TransUnion. The people are exceptional, best I have ever worked with. The environment is flexible with work from home options. There is a big opportunity to help build a new business unit within a large successful... company. Employee benefits really good (medical, dental, vision, 401k with match, discounted stock purchase, unlimited PTO).

    Cons

The coffee is really bad and there is no free food (not even from vending machines). This is a big con for a tech company, especially bad coffee in Portland. There is no excuse for this. The office itself is in a good loction but the interior is on the low end for tech or professional businesses. Some employees are having a hard time after the acquisition. They do not feel like they can make an impact in the same... way and see everything as negative. Their complaining is a downer. Some things take longer to get done.

    Advice to Management

Take action on the input you are getting! Reward positive employees that are working hard to make things better. Get better coffee machines, not everyone can afford to buy Starbucks 5 times a day.

I worked at Iovation Inc full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Few honestly. There are much better companies in the Portland area to work for. There is a generous vacation offering (though not really, it's "flexible" time). I suppose one pro is they offer a decent tuition reimbursement program.

    Cons

Many. The company was acquired by TransUnion in June 2018, so don't let them fool you. This isn't some spunky Portland company, it's TransUnion. You will be forced to drug test, and you will be forced to attend many largely useless corporate compliance trainings. Overall your work will not matter much before June 2020 as there is rumored to be some bonus that will go out to many around that time, and most are... just coasting until then. After that date, it seems just as likely they will shutter the office and move people to Chicago (TU's headquarters). Or completely re-org locally, who knows.

I have been working at Iovation Inc full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

plenty of autonomy flexible remote work policy great people relatively diverse good management throughout team lunches and other niceties reasonable training budget high mobility if you started low, and good lateral mobility regardless (at least pre-acquisition) takes security seriously

    Cons

product and project management teams perpetually understaffed, and the rest of the company suffers for it increasing bureaucracy after acquisition, and only looking to get worse. 0 transparency on the rare occasions coworkers are fired/quit office space in need of renovation to be comfortable appeasing slow-moving clients almost always takes priority over progress doesn't take privacy as seriously as I'd like

I have been working at Iovation Inc full-time

    Pros

If you want to just get by and plod along in a job where you don't really have to try and no one ever really cares if you get anything done, then this might be just the place for you. No demands on you. Make up something to do to occupy your time. No performance reviews. Now that they're part of TransUnion, you get as much vacation as you can convince your manager to give you. Since you'll never have any goals..., you shouldn't need to worry about not being able to complete your work. You can get decent pay for the role and area.

    Cons

If you actually want to feel useful and productive, it's unlikely you'll be satisfied here. The product team has no vision for where to take the products - they're satisfied with just selling more and more of the same old thing. It isn't surprising that their competitors are passing them on technology since they've been basically standing still for years. They just got acquired by TransUnion so, instead of being... part of a company that controls its own destiny and sets its own priorities, you'll now be part of a huge corporation along with all of the requisite policies, reporting structure, shareholder obligations, etc. Since they don't care if the employees are actually productive, you'll have to put up with a bunch of folks who are satisfied not doing their jobs. Just trying to get anything accomplished when you're depending on a response from another team can take weeks.

    Advice to Management

Get your product team going on identifying new products that you can sell to new customers rather than just selling the same thing to more and more companies. Start doing performance reviews and setting goals for your employees. Give them assignments and hold them accountable for getting them done. Start rewarding superior performers and upbraid those who fail to meet goals.

I have been working at Iovation Inc full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Newly hired and feel so fortunate to have found iovation in my job search and for the opportunity to work here. The interview process was pleasant. Some companies when interviewing drag it out, make it difficult on the candidate, ask pointless questions or demonstrations, and then make the candidate suffer through a long waiting process. Not iovation! The process was swift and felt relevant to the type of work I... would be doing. And the interviewers treated me like a human. I got such a good impression of the company via the interview process. It's rare to find a tech company, let alone a corporate tech company, that has such a warm culture. So far, my impression has been accurate. iovation treats its employees well, and you can tell just from talking to others that people are really happy to work here. Some have left other big name tech firms, and discuss how it would take a great deal to make them leave iovation.

    Cons

iovation is growing very fast, even more so now that they have been acquired by TransUnion. There is a lot of work to do, and many positions to fill.

    Advice to Management

iovation has been a great place to work for almost 2 decades. Let's do everything we can to protect our people and to maintain our culture through the acquisition with TransUnion.

Not many, significantly more pros than cons. Need more resources in our Product mgmt team.

    Advice to Management

They are doing an excellent job taking the company this far- need to get more people in Product. Would love it if they would consider a commuting cost benefit to help pay for parking or commuting by bus.
