    1. healthcare benefits 2. beautiful campus 3. friendly people in general in town 4. helpful staff in general 5. we got a better president! finally!

    Cons

    1. A little bit isolated from outside world, you need to go to conferences quite often to keep touch with others in the same field 2. Ames is a lighthouse in the middle of a dark sea which is mixed of sexism, racism, homophobia, and Trump supporters, we lost so many good professors in recent years... 3. national ranking is sinking each year... 4. Traffic and overcrowded gym due to too fast growing in student numbers in recent years 5. Graduate college used to be pretty cold and disengaged with graduate students, improved over the years? 6. Some professor taught creationism in class and totally got away with that, sigh... 7. The whole town smells bad due to air pollution at a certain time of the year 8. Hateful republican politicians very often punish the university for its liberal views by cutting fundings from state

I have been working at Iowa State University full-time for more than a year

    Pros

As a graduate assistant, you have somewhat freedom to chose when you want to work. It doesn't matter if you come early or leave early, only thing matter is your productivity.

    Cons

All graduate students need to pay a significant amount of money which the university could have waived.
