Pros
British born agency in new york with a great people focused culture. Very entrepreneurial spirit and positions itself as the agency underdog. Good work is recognized and rewarded and great ideas are celebrated. The place is filled with very likable, smart people - no ego's here. Great integration and work sharing across other global offices give iris a huge family feel. Global re-location is available. Great... location in NoHo/SoHo at Broadway Lafayette subway and dog friendly.

Like most agencies, work-life balance is an issue.

Pros
great people, people really work hard and dig in as a team to get things done, challenging and rewarding work, detailed financial management to minimize downsides, tenured management team, work from home options and work life balance, good benefits, generous PTO
Cons
need more alignment on collective vision for the future and core offerings, projects are highly specialized so not turn-key or process driven

Positive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Iris full-time for more than a year
Pros
Great people, similar personalities and an attempt to bond with coworkers make up the environment. They do make the effort to listen to employees at times. Smaller environment allows for learning new skills, but you have to put in the extra work to do so outside of regular hours.
Cons
Over the past year work-life balance and the fun, scrappy environment has started to alter. There have been some bad hires that are still being held onto, and management is slow or blind to swift correction and action. The employees are usually overwork, which is expected. It's all about the numbers right now.
Advice to Management
Start listening more to the people that work there. Be willing to not hit the numbers you want in order to keep talent. Up your benefits and salaries to industry standards.

Pros
If you like drinking with your co-workers, gossiping, being overworked and significantly underpaid, this is the place for you. The vacation policy was nice, though.
Cons
Company culture is the most important thing at iris. You can do amazing work and have a great work ethic, but if you don't partake in the social activities of the office, your job security will suffer. You would also be put on the chopping block if you want to be an agent of change. Your career prospects are dependent on whether a) your direct supervisor likes you and b) whether said supervisor has somewhere to... move up within the company. If they have nowhere to move up to, your career will hit a standstill. The titles, especially on the creative side, are completely outdated. People who would be senior anywhere else, are mid-level at best. There is this dividing line between conceptual creatives and designers that doesn't exist at any other agency. All the designers that I worked with were upset by this, because they felt like pixel pushers most of the time. There is absolutely no work-life balance there. Unless all your friends work there and are your roommates. That's the only way to truly have a social life. Pitches are run by a few select people, and they do not take ideas from anyone else. We pitched several potential clients ideas that just didn't work nor made sense because of the few stubborn people who led the pitches. Needless to say, we won exactly zero of any of the pitches made while I was working there. There was a case while I was working there of intellectual property infringement. None of the responsible parties was fired over it. Probably because the person overseeing the work was one of the sacred cows at iris.

Your focus on hiring and firing people based on whether they fit the company culture is hurting the morale at the company. Promote the people who have put in the time, sweat and tears. Not those who everyone likes to get drunk with. Compensate according to industry standards! Update your job titles to reflect American standards!
