I worked at Irish Blood Transfusion Service full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Tight nit group Average pay but depends on work volume and department.

    Cons

A few condescending coworkers work there. Canteen flow is poor for break times. Lack of overtime. Most people have at least 50 to 150 hours left of annual leave which they won't get paid annually, and will not use. Older emoloyees stuck in their beaurocratic ways. High work volume gets passed down the chain to the bottom employees. Very high work volumes. Leadership is very poor, needy & ignorant at... times.

    Advice to Management

Hire fresh staff, pay employees for annual leave not used due to budgets and unfair executive profits for sitting in their office.

I worked at Irish Blood Transfusion Service full-time

    Pros

Good culture and friendly people. The workplace has very easy access by public transport and is in a central location in the city centre. The workplace has a huge potential to become a great workplace with the correct improvements and process flow.

    Cons

LIMS system needs simplification and easier password recovery system. Have an IT person work as a laboratory aide to find IT improvements if the IT person has no experience of working in biology or other processes.

    Advice to Management

Find production waste and make the processes leaner by six sigma. Update the IT system rather than require high stamina employees as there are many shifts to cover. Hire directly by going to college career fairs to save investment on recruitment to reinvest in the business. Invest more in mammalian cell technologies and synthetic blood research as a mammalian processing facility is a future of supplementing a... blood bank. Open more commercial opportunity as that is required to push the organisation to give value to the public sector.
