    Pros

Excellent benefits, including food and beer benefits in restaurants. Owners love the employees and HR advocates for them.

    Cons

    Not much room for growth.

I have been working at Iron Hill Brewery full-time

    Pros

The employees are some of the best coworkers I have ever had. Always will to help one another, never much drama. Management is amazing, benefits are great, seriously just a great company to work for.

    Cons

Occasionally chaotic, nothing major. Also, A LOT of sidework but it's the cleanest place you'll ever work at.

I worked at Iron Hill Brewery part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The restaurant is very organized, management ensures you are doing well and is there to help with any questions, company perks for meeting sales goals, positive staff

    Cons

A lot of gossip, but I guess thats expected in most workplaces

I worked at Iron Hill Brewery full-time

    Pros

Benefits were good for a restaurant, but have been reduced to increase profitability.

    Cons

Sold a portion of the company to a private equity firm to rapidly expand. The infusion of capital was needed to pursue the rapid expansion the owners have been talking about, but in doing so they are compromising their core values. It's a shame that money ruined this once great company.

    Advice to Management

Stop buying inferior products from your vendors and "inspire loyalty" by weeding out bad apples in management and buying back YOUR company from profit hungry investors that only care about ROI. The investors are very short sighted with their vision and will make the restaurants become Applebee's with a brewery attached.

I worked at Iron Hill Brewery full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Teamwork was important, lots of room for upward mobility, great benefits (including pet insurance), good food and good beer, excellent training program, potential for GABF trip

    Cons

If you are working in a slow location, tips might not be so hot. They do not offer employees shift beers unless they are closing.

    Advice to Management

Consider changing the prohibition on shift beers. It's bizarre to push free samples on the customers but then tug the reins on the employees.

I worked at Iron Hill Brewery full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Get a few perks, rewards/ discounts to the restaurant but only after a while working there

    Cons

Although Iron Hill seems to think that they are somehow different than other larger restaurant chains, they are run just the same, if not worse. Training was an absolute mess and was nothing like how they made it seem it would be at "orientation." It was very hard to get help when you need it, may times I was completely on my own trying to figure stuff out, and then when I didn't know something, the chefs acted like they couldn't believe it. It didn't help that I had several different chefs and managers constantly telling me to do the same things several different ways. Then, when a manager would see me doing something one way that I was told, they have a big fit that I wasn't doing it their way instead. This was a constant back and forth the entire time I was there. The work is very demanding, very stressful and not worth the low salary. They expect way too much of the people that they hire. Furthermore, I would often work 9, 10 or even more hours at a time without a break or anything to eat or drink. Instead of breaks or food, you are constantly given more and more tasks to complete by the end of your shift, which ends whenever you are no longer being given more tasks. I guess because of these reasons, no one there that I worked with ever seemed pleasant, friendly, happy or even human.
