I have been working at Iron Mountain Inc full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've worked with Iron Mountain for 10+ years. As the industry has changed, so has the company. After becoming a REIT and acquiring Recall, our growth strategy in both developed and emerging business is strong. Leadership values talent and invests in development. Many efforts underway to strengthen the culture and value innovation and inclusion.

    Cons

As with any large, global organization, change is a constant. If you aren't flexible and resilient, Iron Mountain likely isn't the environment for you. Company needs an internal social media platform to better collaborate with colleagues around the world.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to your employees and involve them in decision making and problem solving. Continue to recognize the value of inclusion and diversity and corporate social responsibility.

    Pros

Great management support and personal development. My managers give me the support and guidance needed to do a good job and improve my skills.

    Cons

Being a large company we can move a little slow sometimes, but this has been improving. In order to function at the scale we do it's necessary to have a lot of structure and procedures. These are great for keeping everything running though it takes some getting used to. Considering that we're dealing with the worlds most important records and artifacts, all that oversight makes sense.

    Advice to Management

Keep driving the innovation channel - i'm excited to see where we go next, how we expand across the world, and the constant improvement in our services.

I have been working at Iron Mountain Inc full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of new and exciting things in process. Hopefully mgt. will keep investing in new things as paper storage is going away slowly but surely.
New sales mgt. that came over from Recall acquisition seems good. Never really had strong sales mgt. at Iron mountain so time will tell but lots of excitement and optimism so far. You can make really good $ here once you figure out the confusing commission plan and tracking process.
Many really nice and smart people. They care about you.
Good benefits. Starting to get more progressive.
    Teamwork is good.
Lots of things to offer customers.
    Competition is weak

    Cons

Too slow. Lots and lots of conference calls and meetings that waste your time. People that don't perform are able to hide too easily. That frustrates the people who really work their tales off and care about IRM. Still has a lot of good ole boy network in place.
Last 4 or 5 Sales Vice Presidents only last about 1 or 2 years each. Something is wrong there.
Always seem to be cutting, reorganizing, and laying people off. Need stability. Get a good plan and stick with it.

    Advice to Management

Get systems that give you good, accurate information EASILY. IT is terrible. Way too hard to figure out tracking of the numbers and commission payments. Need to fix this as the really good people won't put up with it for long. Need better recognition and rewards program. The Chairmans club isn't run well. No idea who's going or how and numbers aren't accurate anyway so it has actually become counter productive instead of motivating.
