I have been working at Iron Mountain Inc full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fairly stable due to recurring base of revenue, good people, good benefits, regular but small raises, promotion opportunities are available, solid training for many roles,

    Cons

Layoffs following Recall acquisition, industry is dying, lack of direction from management about future, moving from offices to cubes for director and below even where real estate is cheap, outsourcing lots of functions, very siloed, confusion over ownership of certain areas

    Advice to Management

Get a strategy for the future that's more than just wringing the last bits of money out of storage. This doesn't seem like a company that will be around in 10-20 years.

I worked at Iron Mountain Inc full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

2005-2011 was a great time for Iron Mountain. Client growth and acquisition mode along with introducing several transition services to the offering.

    Cons

Very political environment. Operations thought they ran sales and tried. Career opportunities were limited.

    Advice to Management

Accept some advice from the field. Boston HQ rarely sought out the truth of what occurred in the field

    Pros

Pay and Benefits are good. The coworkers are good guys to work with.

    Cons

Supervisors fail to communicate with each other on things that are going on. This than causes problems. Some who are in leadership roles should not have that position, do to not qualified or do not want to do their job properly. Some others like to just blow smoke up your butt. Like to make promises and don't keep them. Like one time my coworkers and I were promise a gift card for Thanksgiving by our supervisor, that was 5 months ago now and we have yet to receive them. Trying to get our yearly uniforms is another issue. Takes months to get supplies need to do the job, and only than because we keep asking.

    Advice to Management

Don't pee on my feet and tell me it's raining. Talk to each other, and don't make the remote site feel like they are the ugly step-kids.
