I worked at Irvine Valley College part-time

    Pros

It was cool that while being a student I was working in the stock room handling solution and creating the labs for the students. I was interacting with the professors who were eventually my upcoming professors in later classes and that relation helped.

    Cons

    There were not any cons

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Irvine Valley College full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The students are the best...there is a reason why the school has the top transfer rate in California. The benefits for full time employees are extremely generous....makes up for the somewhat less pay compared to other districts.

    Cons

Parking (more of an issue for students) and general campus cleanliness. Do not look too carefully at the floors throughout the campus buildings....

    Advice to Management

Find a way to raise funding to build parking structures on campus.

    Pros

I worked with excellent faculty and had a very fulfilling career at IVC

There was not anything I didn't like about working at IVC.

    Advice to Management

Continue to allow faculty to direct their schools

I have been working at Irvine Valley College part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

IVC students typically ranks #1 or #2 each yer biased on transfer rates. Is it perfect no, and you still run into problematic students, but in general the students here are top-notch. Location is hard to beat for Orange County.

    Cons

Currently there is a lot of construction, and parking is insufficient. Also, ingress and egress from campus is terrible - the the roads need to be upgrades next. This position is only semester to semester with no guaranty of renewal. The position is contingent on availability and student load.

    Advice to Management

    Improve parking and street acres

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Irvine Valley College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Entry level job, pretty easy job tasks. If you work here long enough then you should have enough experience in a college setting to move on to different jobs.

    Cons

Hard to get promoted within the company. Sometimes your good work goes unnoticed, but that's what happens with just an assistant.
