I worked at Itaú Unibanco (Itaú BBA e Rede) full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very few. The bank is generally well perceived by the rest of Wall St. although it is not on the same level with international bulge bracket banks like Citi, DB, etc.

    Cons

The New York office of Itáu BBA is a terrible place to work: 1) no respect for work/life balance from management. 2) the bank lacks the name-brand recognition of a large I-bank (think CS, MS, etc.) but still clings to an aggressive and competitive office culture. This is entirely inappropriate given that other banks are heading in the other direction and striving to be more collegial. 3) terrible compensation... that is 50% or more below the rest of the market. 4) review process is arbitrary and management turns a blind-eye to the New York office.

    Advice to Management

The bank failed to act decisively in its expansion outside of brazil. As a result, most employees are disillusioned and frustrated. Management's response has been abysmal and unprofessional. The damage is done and the bank should revert back to its retail base in Brazil.
