    Pros

You get a free shift meal that you have to scarf down because you're never given an actual break

    Cons

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The staff is terrible, the servers are money hungry, disrespectful, and rude. The managers don't listen to a single thing or even try to make a change. There is a VERY clear hierarchy to the roles, no one is seen as equals. Bussers are treated terribly. Everyone is out for themselves. I guess it makes sense when this is your entire career and all you have to look forward to in the morning, but maybe a future goal can be to be a decent human being.

    Advice to Management

Actually enforce rules on your servers. Stop promoting hosts straight to servers and laugh at bussers who want to serve, it's not rocket science, your food isn't fine dining and you hire underage people/people who drink on the job because you're oblivious. LISTEN if an employee has a complaint, especially if it is one that is told to you day in and day out.

    I worked at Ivar's part-time

    Pros

Minimum wage job is great for high school and college students, most customers were very nice and tipped when it wasn't necessary.

    Cons

Management. There were people who were made managers who don't have what it takes to be a manager and they need to be a people person. For example: Don't yell at your co workers. Especially in front of customer.

    Advice to Management

Choose managers wisely. Also recommended training them.

I have been working at Ivar's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Benefits are good
    flexible schedule
    fun environment
    free food after every shift
    tips are great
    cool managers

    vacation pay

The view is amazing, never gets old!!

    Cons

    They rarely promote
    understaffed sometimes
    no overtime
    drama sometimes
    slow during fall and winter
parking hard to find in summer
    you'll get dirty easily

    Advice to Management

You should promote people who show interest in advancing, and please make the deck bussers not wear black during the summer! It gets really hot!

    I have been working at Ivar's full-time

    Pros

Late night hours if you are studying during the day.
Very nice coworkers. Lots of supposed benefits

    Cons

Management is rude no matter how hard you work.
Late closing time means you will be there until about 11:30 or even later.
NO BREAKS, that is literally what a manager told me, confirmed with other employees(just FYI, very illegal).

    Advice to Management

Let people receive their breaks like it clearly states in Washington law, and don't act like its ridiculous to ask for one, its the law, deal with it you baby.

    I worked at Ivar's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Coworker, and customers. Advancement is good I guess. Learning a lot of new things that can help you earn experience to find something better

    Cons

basically only get to a shift manager after that you're kind of just stuck there. They expect so much out of employees for what? Nothing gets noticed. They always waited until the day maybe 2 days before putting the new schedule out. Bad management.

    Advice to Management

Pay closer attention to employees and how they really work when you are and aren't around.

    I have been working at Ivar's part-time

    Pros

Middle/Upper management care about the employees. Great benefits for the service industry.

    Cons

Really nothing. Flexibility in scheduling is the best.

    Advice to Management

Organization could be improved but that could be improved in most service industry jobs.

    I worked at Ivar's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very busy and pay is good, training is easy, flexible schedule. If you want to make quick money to get by it's a good job, but long term probably wouldn't be healthy.

    Cons

Very seasonal, high stress, somewhat unorganized, limited training, typical double standards from management, very little team work, some employees are very rude and unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

Focus on training, and don't expect people to run their own food! Servers should help one another and follow through when they run food instead of trying to find the server to deliver the food. It's not efficient the way it's being done and mgmt isn't setting a good example.
