    Pros

For the most part, we get to work with highly intelligent people. Depending on your role, you'll have the opportunity to travel the country/world. Adequate pay and bonus structure, assuming the company achieves internal targets. Opportunities are created for those who are willing to work for them.

    Cons

It can be very difficult to terminate an employee, for various reasons. An employee could easily get by with poor performance for years without being held accountable. He or she would have to take a dump on the CEOs desk in order to be terminated immediately - anything short of that wouldn't get attention. Seemingly, all decisions are made by the CEO and with little or no context.

    Advice to Management

hold people accountable for their actions and foster a pay-for-performance environment

I have been working at Ixia as a contractor

    Pros

The company is located in a nice business park in Calabasas

    Cons

Young micro managers that don't know how to manage people.
Key people in this group works 14-21 days in a row without a day off
There are periods of time where you have to ask for weekend time off.
They use excel and manpower to do what software should be doing.
The work is meticulously grueling and not very satisfying.
The managers don't know how to pick their battles and they over estimate what people can do based on the manager's own ability or capability, not what a staff person is capable of or what might be appropriate for a staff person.

    Advice to Management

Please review the quality of work life for these people and make a permanent change. Automate the process, increase staff and change the management style for this group (or do all three please) in order to make a permanent change for these staff members!
Normally the accounting staff works a long week during quarter-end close. That might mean a 50-60 hour week for a short period of time. Most accountants accept that, however, that is not what is happening here.

I have been working at Ixia full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

pay is above average for the location

    Cons

promotions are almost non-existent. However, if you don't know your job and can suck up to management, a promotion is quite possible.
401k match is from the dark ages
management is very arrogant - doesn't listen to employees
culture used to be good - now there are large walls between groups
company is being sold and management can't wait to get their payoff - Bethany is a classic example - was brought in only to sell the company

If given any option, do not go here. Even if you accept a job, KEEP LOOKING ELSEWHERE
