I have been working at Ixia full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Ixia has a diverse global workforce striving to provide customers with the best products for business. Employees take pride in ensuring customer's product questions and issues are quickly addressed.

    Cons

Corporate executives have failed to state that the divisiveness promoted by the incoming president and his political appointees will not be tolerated at Ixia or in any dealings that Ixia has/will participate.

    Advice to Management

Regardless of personal political affiliations, all employers have a responsibility to take a stand against hatred and show support of their diverse employee and customer populations that have been marginalized and targeted. Promotion of hatred on this scale must not be ignored.

I have been working at Ixia full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting leading-edge technologies, creative opportunities, decent company values. Open to new ideas. Upper management came through engineering ranks.

    Cons

Fractured culture due to so many acquisitions and global spread. Some divisions seem favored and some seem unfavored. Murky roadmap on some products.

    Advice to Management

Clear plan on product development roadmap and execution.

    I worked at Ixia full-time

    Pros

Good Pay, work-life balance, liberty to work from home. Less work pressure. So, in the mean time you can learn more about other bleeding edge technologies using their bandwidth. (or you can do facebook and youtube like most of the engineers.)

A few very good and organized engineers. Some people are very sincere.

    Cons

Most of the people in Ixia are very lazy, roam about in the office, make useless side talks and blame on each other upon failing to achieve deadline. They are still writing codes as they used to 10 years ago no urge to adapt. A few employees need to be fired asap, they just come to office to gossip and remote babysitting their daughters/sons. all time on the phone. Some of these fire-able higher level employees comes to office only 2-3 days a week. Thus affecting all the engineers who are dependent on them, hindering their growth and lowering their job satisfaction. Performance evaluation system is just on their mood, your work doesn't mean a thing. If you join your manager in their side talks, you will get your full bonus and appreciation. But some managers are really good they have good technical knowledge and really know how to adapt and make a solid hard project.

    Advice to Management

Please monitor the working hours of your employees or you may evaluate performance upon KLOC or FP's. These will give you a better understanding about the performance of your employees.

    Pros

Tremendous intellectual property! Good move into the security space.

    Cons

Hard to compete with your existing partners-manufactures that use your test and measurement technologies.

    Advice to Management

    Keep On Keeping On!

I have been working at Ixia full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting engineering challenges or cutting edge technology. Close relationship to product management and customer requirements. Attractive benefits package including dental and medical plans.

    Cons

Bonus depends not only on your individual performance but also on overall company performance, which seems normal from an investor perspective, but not from an engineer who did his job perspective.

    Advice to Management

Clearer direction on where the company wants to go, currently hard to position a message between network testing, security and visibility.
