I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time

    Pros

Fast early career advancement, lots of early responsibility, Executive leadership are good leaders and genuinely good people,

    Cons

Poor training across the company, easy to get stuck in middle because there is no clear career paths, very siloed divisions make it hard to transfer across divisions, middle level jobs are often filled before they are advertised within the company

    Advice to Management

Better training is needed, clearer career progression planning, more transparent hiring and promotions would keep more talent from leaving. Also break up the siloing of the divisions, there is value in getting new blood from one division to another.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

-Benefits are good - PTO, Health
    -Some flexibility to work remotely
-If you can relocate or live in a major hub (Chicago, LA, Atlanta, etc..), there is plenty of opportunity

    Cons

-Lack of work/life balance in Dedicated
    -Pay is low
-10+ year employee w/ lots (4-5 weeks) of PTO that is very difficult to use because of poor / inadequate staffing to cover when out (when it is "your" account you have a vested interest in it performing well)
    -On-call 24/7
-Like most large companies senior management is truly out of touch w/ front line operations

    Advice to Management

-The inability to take time off in Dedicated will continue to cost you a lot of good people unless you staff properly.
    -Listen to your employees.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Progressive company with endless opportunity, especially if you are willing to move around. Allows individuals to be forward-thinking and to promote their own ideas at each level. You truly get to learn a lot in a short amount of time and can work through the ranks rather quickly if you apply yourself. Management supports their people and cares. Great place to work and every day brings something new.

    Cons

Given the industry, it sometimes calls for long hours when the workload is heavy. Training program for new managers is getting better, but still needs some refinement.
