I worked at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good solid company to grow and learn if you are wiling to put in the time and the effort. Make no mistake about any company you work for, long hours and dedication equals long hours away from family time and dedicated events. With that said, JB Hunt will give you a solid career and the tools to perform them with.

    Cons

Late nights, away from home, or both are not uncommon at JB Hunt.

    Advice to Management

None. JB Hunt is growing market. If you want to be in the transportation industry and have safe equipment with safe policies in place then JB Hunt should be one of your considerations.
You may not enjoy trucks that drive 65 mph.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I very much enjoyed working here but the rate of pay as far as mileage goes could be a great deal better

    Cons

Too much micromanagement the trucks are too slow for highway speed and then being specialize carrier operation they could become unsafe with traveling

    Advice to Management

Super good manager for a young fellow with no Trucking experience

I worked at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Newer trucks, plenty miles, good pay, lots of JB Hunt jokes, clean terminals, fair dispatchers, good work environments.

    Cons

Away from home, little time off, long hours and long miles.

    Advice to Management

Tell dispatchers to tell the truth and get the drivers home on time.

I worked at J.B. Hunt as an intern

    Pros

Good environment, everyone is easy to get along with. Built a family in the workplace. Great employees, everyone is nice and accepting.

    Cons

Everything is unstructured, no one really knows what is going on. I was more of a filler for those who weren't at work and on vacation than an intern learning about the company and trying to see where I belong. I took on more responsibilities as a fleet manager than actually gaining experience in multiple areas as an intern should.

    Advice to Management

Provide a structure for the interns to have a set schedule of what to do and various projects to work on. Allow them to move around and see what best suits them in the company than sticking them somewhere without guidance or training.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time

    Pros

You learn a lot about transportation. It's not just schedules and routes but you learn federal regulations, different customer's expectations, and how to manage drivers... which is a challenge in its own right.

    Cons

It takes a lot of your time. If you're the only one running a fleet then you're on call 24/ 7. A lot is asked of the managers and at times it can feel like you're the lone person on the island and there isn't a company that has your back.

    Advice to Management

Be there for your employees in the field.
