I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I am a 24 year old female. I graduated from university two years ago with a degree in an unrelated field and started looking for management development programs. I chose JB Hunt over other companies because of my desire to be impactful in my position. DCS is fully of opportunity, and I truly believe that if you are unhappy in your position, it's because when applied you were truly looking for a "worker bee job," punching a clock, going by the book.

This company is for the innovators & the problem solvers. I have been mentored by those who encourage creativity and root cause analysis when things get rough. My manager preaches six sigma principles and forward thinking, with an enemy of complacency. I truly believe in my ability and my team's ability to have a major impact on this companies growth.

As an Account Manager, I'm running my own "business." I couldn't do that without the unconditional support and mentorship I've received at this company.

    Cons

-While in the grand scheme of things this company has had an overwhelmingly positive impact on my growth in my career - there are good & bad drivers/managers/support staff. However, the rough days filled with a collision, injury and new customer demand have made me a stronger, efficient, creative manager.... it's not banking... it's trucking.
    - I hope to see a stronger women presence in field operations.
    - The company sometimes struggles to effectively implement systems, protocol and policy.

    Advice to Management

I felt like my interview was very honest and forthright about the position I applied for. I would advise management in other areas to be more thorough in explaining the day to day requirements of the position. I believe many complaints show a lack of prior understanding when starting with the company.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Progressive company with endless opportunity, especially if you are willing to move around. Allows individuals to be forward-thinking and to promote their own ideas at each level. You truly get to learn a lot in a short amount of time and can work through the ranks rather quickly if you apply yourself. Management supports their people and cares. Great place to work and every day brings something new.

    Cons

Given the industry, it sometimes calls for long hours when the workload is heavy. Training program for new managers is getting better, but still needs some refinement.
