I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Growth is the best word to describe the past few years. Lots of internal opportunity and we love to promote from within. Open door policy and the benefits are ok, not great. Leadership is exceptional and for the most part it's not hard to work for the managers in the company.

    Cons

This isn't a typical 9-5, you will get calls everyday of the week. If you aren't ready to seriously commit yourself and a part of your life to the company then you won't get what you want out of it. Growth means movement and you'll need to keep your boxes for a few years of you plan on promoting.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up. Take some time and try and understand what younger generations are looking for in a career and start adjusting now to attract and retain young talent.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has a strong track record in the transportation industry. Very open environment, not very micromanaged at all which is attractive to many people.

    Cons

Long hours, training from managers can be very minimal and disorganized, must be a self starter to get things going for yourself. Hours can be long depending on the account that you're placed at.

    Advice to Management

Structure a better training process for new interns and start them working on the core competencies needed to do a great job.

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everything about the job keeps you moving. Even when everything is slow you still have plenty to do. Hard work is rewarded with ready praise and mistakes are quickly remedied with positive reinforcement. The job teaches so many facets of corporate work environments that you could easily transition into another unrelated corporate field.

    Cons

No many cons to speak of. One downside is the lack of turnover. There are those that have no business continuing their career in this field whether from laziness or incompetence, yet there is minimum reprimand.

    Advice to Management

Focus a bit more on personnel management. Operations management is superb. Work on recognizing employees that need more guidance and provide it. Don't forget your own people when trying focusing most of your time on the customer.

    Pros

Once you are hired you can throw your resume away. If you work hard and let upper management know your ambitious to advance, you will get your shot.

    Cons

The higher you advance, the more your life is surrounded by work. You must be available 24/7 because people will be relying on you if there is an emergency.

    Advice to Management

Larger annual raises and more vacation time would be nice.
