    Pros

    Good discount, and friendly people

They would make us stay until unreasonable times. For example, I would go in at 4:30, sometimes they wouldn't allow us to leave until 2:00am even if our department was clean.

I have been working at J. C. Penney part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Discount and brands are good

    Cons

    Closing shifts, understaffed, fineprint sales

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging, actually step in once in a while to help when understaffed, and no one want the closing shifts because they are never allowed to leave when scheduled, so yes, all closing shifts are dreaded, better communication skills needed.

I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, competitive salary, nice office environment, and diverse. Staple of America and generally a good hearted company that is trying its best during difficult times.

    Cons

In survival stabilization mode right now. Not much innovation while trying to adapt to the changing retail environment and previous leadership missteps.

    Advice to Management

Don't just try anything. Keep the experienced talent you have to get you where you want to go, rather than trimming from the "more expensive" top to lower costs by bringing in cheaper help.

I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, competitive pay, lots of corporate office amenities

    Cons

With the declining corporate culture, frequent layoffs, reorganizations and reactionary environment, good people are feeling the oppressive weight of the challenges of the retail industry. A company that once care about its people has been forced to become more interested in the bottom line. Communication lines within the organization have suffered.
