    Pros

At my former location, the associates and staff were very interactive with their co workers. Creating a nice environment for the organization.

My location was ran pretty well.

    Advice to Management

    I worked at J. C. Penney part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Employee Discount, relaxed dress code

    Cons

Hope you enjoy listening to the same five songs on repeat for months. (I suppose this is true for any retail location but it drove me insane)

    Advice to Management

I realize that I was a part time/seasonal employee, but slowly not giving me hours and then completely stopping, without actually telling me face to face that I was being let go was very unprofessional. I would have at least appreciated a heads up so that I could have began looking for other positions.

    I worked at J. C. Penney full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Employees who have invested their time and loyalty in the company are very knowledgeable, great to work with and understand the systems they support.

    Cons

Constant uncertainty if you are going to have your job next week or not. No matter how vital your job is or how good you are at doing it. What ever position you have or career path you are on can be changed by management and you will be doing something that is completely unrelated to your current career path or skill set.
The promise of training or providing you with the tools to succeed never materializes. If you bring to their attention they are not following through with what you were told. You will hear, we are the masters of our own destiny. You can go work somewhere else if you are not happy here.

    Advice to Management

If you take care of your workers, the workers will take care of the company. Listen to your people. Don't be just a yes man and blindly follow what you are told to do. We have seen what the smartest man in the room has done to the company.

I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good work atmosphere. First grabs on clearance. Easy to enforce coupon and sales policies.

    Cons

Pressure to get more done than you can, because there simply aren't enough hours to cover everything.

    Advice to Management

Even just an extra 30 hours a week in each department would make a huge difference.

I have been working at J. C. Penney full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If full time, you have guaranteed hours, PTO, and a pretty decent pay. The people employed are like a family, they all care. The hours are crazy flexible.

    Cons

JCP doesn't know how to fire or punish people who don't do their jobs. Anything above a supervisor doesn't do much to help you grow, they just lie and give you false hope.

    Advice to Management

Hold employees more accountable, if they don't do their job, fire them. Be more interactive with associates, so you actually know what's going on within the store.
