If you are SERIOUS about the beauty industry...

      Pros

Love working here! Has taught me so much and grown my artistry. If you are just looking to work somewhere for a makeup discount then go to Ulta. If you are serious about starting a career in the beauty industry SiJCP offers you a BEAUTIFUL foundation to do so!

      Cons

Credit card applications, clients consistently asking about coupons and smaller product range. Eveything else is honestly tolerable. Gets a bit frustrating when clients question the store's authenticity.

      Pros

The discount, some of the coworkers

      Cons

All the cared about was you getting customers to sign up for credit cards and they constantly held it against you if you didn't meet your goal. I had to work every Thanskgiving and never got to spend the holidays with my family. You constantly had to stay late to make sure the store was "open ready," but the managers would never be proactive and help you clean up prior to the store closing.

      Pros

The general manager (Steve) is great! He is soo real and actually cares. If you hate cashier and your honest with him, he will give u other projects.

      Cons

Credit cards!!!!!! The older boomers (LOD/managers) who worked there since the dinosaurs roamed the earth are verrryyy pushy on credit. You must get credit in order to stay scheduled. Also, JCPenney is very understaffed and it’s kind of a dirty store

Not worth the toll on mental health

      Pros

The associate discount is a good perk as well as good sales Penney’s has on merchandise.

      Cons

JC Penney as a company has gone downhill over these past few years. This company has enough to payout their CEO’s but cannot provide a living wage for workers. Credit cards are the only thing keeping the store afloat and this company pushes associates and shames them for not getting enough credit applications. Customers most often are nice but as of recently they do not treat associates with respect. Managers tend to favorite associates and give special treatment/tasks for them. This job is not worth the terrible hours or mental stress.

Easy going, fun and great work experience

      Cons

Many people that shop at JCPenney already have a credit card with them but having to reach goal of selling credit cards. It can be pressuring and won’t get a good raise if goal isn’t reach.

shill for their credit cards or you'll get fired/reprimanded

      Pros

good coworkers, team attitude, lots of fun events around the holidays for employees.

      Cons

scheduled you whenever they wanted, always severely understaffed at closing which lead to staying for hours after close, sometimes as late as 2 am, while expecting you to come in at 11 the next moring. not very flexible scheduling, they got pissed if you didn't shill for the JCP credit cards constantly/annoy guests by practically bombarding them to sign up for one. pay was pretty low for what they expected you to do. also i was told towards the end of the season that I was getting a raise and being kept on permanently, only to be called in the next day to be let go and told that I was given incorrect information.
