I have been working at J. Crew part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people and managers at J. Crew are exceptional helpful and kind.

    Cons

There is a lot of mind numbing tasks, though this is true of most retail jobs.

I have been working at J. Crew part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The store associates I work with are great and we all help each other out as a team. We regularly have contests where we can choose a free item up to $10] or $150, etc. We also have a great associate discount!

    Cons

The customers can be a pain.. not taking no for an answer even if the item they're looking for is sold out everywhere. Customers expect a discount on sale items regularly.

I worked at J. Crew part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great discount, thorough training, fun environment, you can meet a lot of great people, fair pay,

    Cons

As with any retail job, the biggest difficulties are dealing with unreasonable customers but usually, management takes care of that.

    Advice to Management

As a part-time employee and full-time student, scheduling conflicts could be hard to deal with. I would suggest hiring fewer students or to be more aware of a student's schedule when hiring.

I have been working at J. Crew full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I've worked with other retailers and this is by far the best. They stick to their guns when it comes to product and promotions. The discount is also pretty amazing.

Any females who complain about not getting to wear sneakers should look at how many more discounts they get than us guys. There are sometimes 70% for women's product but never guys. It's balanced.

    Cons

The clientele is very "entitled". They expect you to do everything and then some for them even when they're buying a $20 markdown sweater.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! Maybe change the hanger situation and get rid of exclusions...

I worked at J. Crew part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a great place location wise with a surprisingly diverse work force. The discounts that the employees were given are quite good.

    Cons

The lack of communication or acceptance of an employees request was a common issue. an employee could had to set their availability at least two weeks before hand and often times it would still be ignored by the managers.

    Advice to Management

To hear what the employees are saying and do their best to accommodate. Let the employees know that their work is appreciated

    Pros

it was an encouraging work atmosphere, products were fun to learn and sell and coworkers were a good mix and very nice, management is very understanding and easy to work with

    Cons

hard to say, some customers were a bit difficult, the products are changed around the store almost daily requiring you to relearn the setup very frequently, folding the same stack of clothing daily was very frustrating

    Advice to Management

stop moving the items around the store so frequently and create a more efficient folding system
