I worked at J. Crew full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great employees, great benefits including lots of PTO, room to grow up in the company.

    Cons

Management changes often and hardly any of them have your best interest in mind or are actually there to better the company, of the manager doesn't like you when you leave the company they will put you on the no rehire list out of spite.

    Advice to Management

You have a lot of great employees working for you and you shouldn't take a supervisors word for it when they tell you something about an employee, actually hear both sides of the story. The lynchburg location is crawling with supervisors who are only there to better their resume and act like they're better than everyone else.

I have been working at J. Crew full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

We have one of the best Health Insurance plans offered in the area, paid time off, employee discount and sample sales.

    Cons

Management (upper and supervisors), being required to work one weekend shift (either Saturday or Sunday), recent changes within the company structure

    Advice to Management

With all of the recent changes within the company and everyone feeling like they're being micromanaged has everyone ready to leave if another job opportunity presents itself. I think you guys should listen to what your current employees are saying before you end up losing them as well.

    Pros

Paid time off is decent although it used to be 40% more ......

    Cons

Management lacks training and people skills. End result is a "get it done" directive with no knowledge on how to advise or support.

    Advice to Management

Put some effort into selecting managers that know how to lead .

    Pros

Insurance, employee discount, lots of vacation - but good luck using it.

    Cons

Favoritism, bias, poor management, lack of professionalism, company doing poorly financially.

I was in leadership and management is like being in high school. You need to talk their talk and wal their walk to get anywhere. They play favorites and will make things up to let good employees go that don't fit their mold.

    Advice to Management

Come out of your offices, learn what your leadership team is doing, what challenges they face, and what the employees are doing. Don't assume you know. Research feedback. Stop hiring your friends or people just like you. Different personalities are a good thing - it makes the team stronger.

Vacation is great. They give you 4 weeks now. Use to be 5 weeks.
    401 k -

    Cons

Bully older employees, making it stressful for them to work. Nit pickey about everything. Leads and managers rude And lazy. No chance to move up and very little raises once a year. Going out of business fast. Cutting shifts and positions. Selling buildings that they own because their in over there head.

    Advice to Management

Needs to follow the rules and set an example. As it is now, they are above the rules. To many bosses and leads running around. Please back off and give an employee space to breath and work in peace. Most of all, stay off your cell phone. The company provides you with extensions, use them.
Dress code - follow it. Cover up.
Main thing- work on the floor with the employees and do what we do. There is no need to hide in your office
