I have been working at J. Crew full-time

    Pros

I love the people I work with and enjoy my work life balance. The day to day is not too stressful and I feel like I have learned a lot.

    Cons

There are times when direction is poor and management does not step up to lead the team in an organized manner.

    Advice to Management

Take a more active role in giving planners clear direction and overall company strategy so that they feel empowered each and every day to make the best business decisions.

    Pros

Managers are everything- good ones will help you reach your goals within the company. There is a lot of support for self motivated employees and someone always has the right answer.

    Cons

Change is not easily embraced and big decisions can be strung out, making it difficult to move forward.

    Advice to Management

Reach an actual decision before announcing it. Committing to the potential outcome can be frustrating for employees when the decision deviates from the original announcement. Of course we have to all be flexible but it could be done with a greater degree of tact and less urgency. Transparency is everything but can be construed as misleading in the wrong situation.

Everybody understands retail is struggling, so it would be better to have fewer part time employees and give more hours to associates with good sales numbers.
