I have been working at J. Crew (More than a year)

    Pros

This has helped me perfect my people skills,a valuable tool in life. I enjoy all of my coworkers, and the company's policy of breaks is very generous.
15 minute breaks after 4 hours are enforced, which is very nice.

    Cons

If you aren't looking for a weekend job, you may disappointing with the hours you get. Unless you are full-time, expect no more than 15 hours a week. 4 hour shifts and randomized scheduling make it hard to balance another job.

I have been working at J. Crew full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Really great teams of honest hardworking people.

    Cons

Run don't walk AWAY! If you don't know what's going on at J. Crew and you're applying you must live under a rock. The whole company is in turmoil. There is no payroll in any store. Morale is at an all time low. The salaries are some of the lowest in the industry. The work load is ridiculous. There are no customers, so you pack all the product to ship for online orders. When there is a client, there's no product left to sell. Product levels in store are always a mess.

    Advice to Management

Let's all hope and pray that David Brett, the new CEO (yes Mickey is gone :( ), will somehow turn things around. Not sure how that can happen if there is $4 Billion in debt. There is no money to turn anything around.

    Pros

Easy interiew process....job is not difficult....leaders are easy to get along with...customers can be demanding

It's retail so you're on your feet for the entire shift.

    Advice to Management

Management is OK. Perhaps be willing to hire non-management at full time rather than a few hours per week here and there

I have been working at J. Crew part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The store associates I work with are great and we all help each other out as a team. We regularly have contests where we can choose a free item up to $10] or $150, etc. We also have a great associate discount!

    Cons

The customers can be a pain.. not taking no for an answer even if the item they're looking for is sold out everywhere. Customers expect a discount on sale items regularly.

    Pros

Great vacation time that is extended to part time an full time employees. Can be used throughout the year as needed.

    Cons

There isn't much growth opportunities. This job is best for college students with needed flexible schedules. Pay is decent but could be better.

    Advice to Management

Happy employees are the best building block for success.
