    I worked at J. Crew part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    * Management imparts lessons on professional sales conduct.
    * Employee discount
    * Accommodating schedule

    Cons

    * Comes with all of the drawbacks of commission without the benefits - your pay is downsized if you do not meet a certain sales quota. Also, this is not explicitly stated when you are hired.
    * Company culture creates a sense of toxic competition between co-workers.
    * The company's difficulties in the retail market have trickled down to management placing unreasonable expectations on staff.

    I have been working at J. Crew full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great pay, great benefits, great incentives. J Crew takes care of their employees. They offer great employee discounts as well.

    Cons

    Huge disconnect between corporate, online store, and retail store which makes running the retail store very difficult. Excessive discounting...especially online causes a low bottom dollar for the retail store. Customers only looking for sales. There is also a disconnect amongst management team which makes the store disorganized. Hours are insane. Early morning openings, late night closings, overnights. A very stressful place to work.

    Advice to Management

    Be more cohesive and team players. Advice to corporate...support she back your management teams.

    I have been working at J. Crew full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great place to move up if entry level. Benefits are solid.

    Cons

    Once you reach a management position there really isn't anymore room for growth unless you're willing to stick it out for 10 years. Seems like certain people are picked for particular positions without even giving other interested applicants a chance. Communication is weak.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees, ask for feedback regarding management performance and implement.
