I have been working at J. Crew full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -great discount
    -flexible schedule
-lots of contests to win free items
    -benefits are reasonable
-company is invested in its employees and want them to grow
    -very high pay
    -great work/life balance

    Cons

    -work nights and weekends
-turnover for management is low, so there doesn't seem to be a lot of room for growth
-hourly management cannot go into overtime at all meaning busy weeks can get very stressful trying to get everything done

    Advice to Management

allow for hourly management to get some overtime... sometimes, 40 hours a week just isn't enough time to get everything done.

I have been working at J. Crew part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent starting pay, good discount, nice managers

    Cons

They pressure you a lot to sell the J Crew card which can be annoying because most customers DON'T want to open up another credit card just for an extra 10-15% off. Very few hours are given and you're lucky if you get 3 shifts a week, most times it'll be less.

When you're first hired, they make you do a "Fitting Session" during your orientation. This is where they pick out a bunch of clothes for you and make you try them on which is super, super awkward and downright embarrassing if you can't fit into them or if they don't look right on. I've worked at other clothing stores before and have never had to do this...I find it a bit degrading and it can definitely make an employee feel bad about themselves.

You do not HAVE to wear J Crew's clothes while working, but they limit so much on dress code that you're pretty much only left with J Crew as your option. I nearly got written up once for dressing "too casual" so appearance and dress code is big to them. It ends up being a huge con for the employees because they get suckered into buying the clothes.

    Advice to Management

Please don't hire new employees if you aren't going to schedule them

I have been working at J. Crew part-time

    Pros

Very stylish, positive atmostphere. Great discount, easy to get time off.

    Cons

No real incentive to try harder because promotions are non-existent and employees are viewed as replaceable.

    Advice to Management

Incentivize selling performance, get rid of employees who constantly call out
