I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong brand, ample training opportunities, great corporate responsibility.

    Cons

Bureaucracy, often too many obstacles to get things done. Many managers and senior leaders are just not good at what they do. Either not good at managing others or simply not good at leading. A title doesn't = effective leadership. I was blessed to have great colleagues and good managers, but that is not always the case for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Don't bite the hands that feed you. Downsizing is a reality, but often those at the helm making the decision as to whom to cut make the wrong choices. I've seen too many good people get downsized. Also, hold senior leaders and managers more accountable. Tie their compensation to how effectively they manage people and use metrics to support their success and shortcomings.

I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working with great colleagues and having decent benefits made this position a good fit for me. Although I was here for less than one year, it was a positive experience.

    Cons

The technology was quite outdated and the disparate systems could make the job challenging at times. Overall, I found the job quite enjoyable although my commute was a bear.

I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Even though it's been a few years, I was extremely happy working with the team I was assigned to. My knowledge grew expeditiously due to the job responsibilities. The Learning environment. I was assigned to the VP responsible for implementing new programs for the staff in various departments and I was required to critique them. I had never been involved with the creating process of a course and it was quite exciting.

    Cons

The only negative I came across was being dependent on other departments' staff members for the completion of some of our projects. I believe because we were a new department and didn't have the connections our projects were not expedited. Once we introduced ourselves and our mission this became a non-issue.

-Benefits and compensation are pretty good.

    Cons

-You don't really get much say as to what role you will be placed in other then submitting a preference survey which doesn't guarantee anything.

    Advice to Management

-Management depends on what role you get placed in. Not much advice to provide.
