I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunities if you seek, driven people, intelligent peers.

    Cons

Culture, coworker interaction, scale. Below market PAY for engineers if starting your career here.

    Advice to Management

People are your greatest asset. Recruiting for the part of the bank I was working at was incredibly difficult, yet there was not a single initiative to retain talented individuals. When you're spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on recruitment. Perhaps paying even at market rate for your engineers could help with keeping them. If a bank can't even compete in compensation, I don't see why engineers would want to work there over a technology company.

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No micro management and lots of resources to tap into. Plenty of room for growth. Great environment for self motivated individuals

    Cons

Management is supportive but takes little to no risk to help you get difficult things pushed through. The process often gets in the way of getting the job done. Some of the process just doesn't make sense.

I worked at J.P. Morgan as an intern

    Pros

Very structured internship experience - 1 week of great training for front office summer analysts.

    Cons

Manager did not give very good constructive feedback. Only positive feedback was ever given for both summer analysts that received return offers and those that didn't. No word on whether a summer analyst was tracking for a return offer was provided either.

    Advice to Management

    Give better feedback.
