I worked at J.P. Morgan (More than a year)

    Pros

You get paid more than the minimum salary.

    Cons

Impersonal. As they could measure the speed -- how many cases you processed per day, that was the leading criteria. Quality was secondary and I found us clearing cases on faulty data or principles and had to blindly follow the directions.
Nobody knew what was going to happen next week or next day.

    Advice to Management

Treat contract workers like professionals. Many have more experience than those supervising.

I have been working at J.P. Morgan as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Teams are spread across globe. It is difficult to co-ordinate work.

Technical Upgrade for all the systems

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Employees are the best thing Chase has. Systems are great too.

    Cons

Managers are terrible, they think they know everything, do not care about the employees at all, only about themselves, including looking great in front to the boss.

    Advice to Management

Long hours, cut down Branch hours so that employees can have a good Work/Life balance. Some work everyday from opening to closing, including Saturdays. Managers can work 60 hours a week.

    Pros

    - Great work life balance
    - Decent benefits
    - 22 days of time off
    - Big brand name

    Cons

    - Very Bureaucratic environment. Takes forever to get anything done
    - Responsibility without authority
    - Promotions are adhoc and not based on experience or skill sets or value addition
    - Worst HR that I have ever seen. Does not get back to you if you have any queries
    - Pay is below industry standard
    - Run like a government organization

    Advice to Management

Change your middle management or make them more effective. Provide opportunities for people to grow. Remove the rule that there will be no change in position or salary if you move across departments. People move for growth. Would you rather a valuable employee move to a competitor? Provide a clear career growth path and direction for people. Make your HR more responsive. In Asset management, the HR needs improvement. Pay per market standards.
