I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The benefits here are pretty great, start with 3 weeks paid vacation, 3 personal days, 6 sick days, and 9 paid holidays. Vacation time increases after 5 years (or at VP level) to 4 weeks. Medical benefits recently were made better for us as part of a health industry initiative Chase is part of. Work-life balance is decent and getting better. Some positions allow for Work From Home flexibility.

    Cons

Once reaching the Associate level, it can be hard to be promoted within your own team as many managers seem to prefer to hire VP-level folks from outside of their own team instead of promote from within and back-fill. In production environments, that's not necessarily the same, but in the project management/tech jobs, that's what it seems like. Also, as far as pay goes, the company does a bad job in general with providing pay increases that make sense when you are promoted. They generally seem to pay higher salaries to people hired from outside of the bank, and I and others have been told by GOOD managers as advice to leave the bank for a year, go get experience, then apply and return to Chase in order to get better pay. That is absolutely unacceptable. In my opinion, job postings should always include a salary range so you know what you are getting into, and you should ALWAYS have a salary change from one job to another if you are not within that range.
