I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of room for growth, particularly if you are willing/able to relocate.

    Cons

Just the usual red tape that comes with working for a large corporation.

I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Easy job. There is more than enough support for any issue you may encounter. It does not take a great deal of education to succeed at any position in the retail bank.

    Cons

That being the case, if you are highly educated, it will be a frustrating work environment. Retention is very low. Management does not recognize intelligence or talent. In order to advance you must kiss a lot of rear-ends. The pay is about 75% of what you can make elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Not just those in management positions. Listen to the people on the ground and in front of the clients. Listen to those who have worked hard to further their education. They are the ones with the great ideas.

I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Base salary is high vs. industry average
-Great place to start your career at (training, learning opportunities)
-Pretty good culture vs. other main industry players

    Cons

-Bonus is too subjective and depends on many unpredictable factors
-Hours are long vs. industry average (11-12 per day for Associates; and higher for Analysts). You work like IB but get paid like PB.
-Too many politics involved instead of focusing on meritocracy; also, Management changes pretty often and each new manager wants to change something in order to leave his/her mark, which may not necessarily end up in a better outcome

    Advice to Management

Be more disciplined with your business plans and give more career growth opportunities to people who are already with the organization

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company, unlimited potential, great technology.. Culture is pro worker, which is a rarity these days. I enjoy working for chase, would recommend to anyone.

    Cons

There are still mundane task that must be performed, regardless of job role. Sometimes performing these task takes you away from what you want to do, which is sale more.

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong brand name on your resume. Phenomenal company resources for personal development (every morning starts with a 30 minute meeting on relevant topics relating to global markets/politics/macroeconomics). Overall great place to start your career.

    Cons

Private Banking in general is a difficult industry to advance in as a young professional due to the high profile nature of clients. Most successful MDs started their careers in other fields of finance and grew their network before becoming Private Bankers. However, it is a great place to start your career if you are still unsure about the long term. You will build soft skills that are pertinent to just about any finance job unless it involves financial modeling....technical skills lack in this role. Additionally, another non-JPM specific con is that your experience is based entirely on your manager....

    Advice to Management

    Focus on analyst retention

    Pros

Great benefits! Leader in innovations and training employees.

    Cons

Branch management was not given enough flexibility for decision making in branches. Louisville area does not seem like a priority for the company.

    Advice to Management

Keep the right people in the branches and you'll be successful!
