I worked at J.P. Morgan as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Adequate Equipment, Nice Facility, Pleasant people

    Cons

Inconsiderate treatment of IT contractors. Released six months early with no warning. All reviews of my work were positive; nobody ever expressed any issues. As a result, do not believe any contracting commitments. Assume JPMorgan will terminate you with no notice and no discussion of your work.

    Advice to Management

Please give contractors or contracting company some notice if a position is not working out. I would have liked to have said goodbye and packed my coffee cup.
Also, management was completely unprepared for my engagement. They had no idea what to do with a Senior IT professional. They did not have any experience with managing development projects, IT processes or IT process automation, so became very frustrated with having to develop these disciplines from scratch.

I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The friendships I made with some but that is about it!

    Cons

Management does whatever they can to benefit themselves. When it comes down to doing the right thing for the customer or benefiting Chase you are told to do what helps Chase NOT the customer. This was one of the most negative environments I ever worked in. They eliminated my position and after being with them for 6years just let me go; didn't help with finding another job etc. The same with everyone else in my department.

    I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time

    Pros

technology is advanced, lot of investment in training, pretty secure job

    Cons

too much focus on recruiting blacks. we think they are being treated very fairly, then why this extra effort at the expense of other qualified candidates?

    Advice to Management

You have black leadership who focus on recruiting blacks and those managers even go to the extent of motivating black employees who simply don't want to work; other employees work hard. Please stop too much focus on blacks, treat everyone equally.
it is lowering morale of others.

    I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time

    Pros

Great people, good benefits. Large company with many opportunities.

    Cons

Poor work/life balance, management is unreachable and in the dark. Accomplishments are not recognized.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to pay more attention to making sure their teams are aligned with the bigger picture. Tend to spend too much time managing up, at the sacrifice of the team below.

    Pros

Benefits and pay are great. Understand this cannot be applied to every department. Very large company

    Cons

Management and lackbof clear communication. So many meetings there is no real direction availabe when needed.

    Advice to Management

The company is large and management is different department to department. The are times when guidance is needed but management is not available due to 30 meetings in a day.
