    Pros

Good pay rate and easily flexible, focus highly on customer service which is good. They do respect colleagues and try to make it a better place to work.

    Cons

No opportunity to promote or get higher a higher position unless you know someone in management. Don't get enough holidays throughout the year either

I have been working at J Sainsbury part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent hourly pay to say what the job entails. Not a bad working environment friendly staff and management. Good job if wanting something part time whilst having other commitments, management were very accommodating to me whilst studying at uni, they allowed me to have days off for studying etc

    Cons

Customers are rude, but can only expect from any customer service environment. Not really much of else to say about cons

I have been working at J Sainsbury full-time

    Pros

Annual bonus depending on performance of the store
Colleagues are often friendly and supportive.
Good staff discount, sometimes increases to 15%

    Cons

Management often disregard any problems you have. Often found myself being injured in the unsafe conditions and they would laugh it off.
    Always understaffed.
Ask too much of you for what you get paid.

    Advice to Management

Interact with your staff. As a manager you should listen to the experience of staff who work in the store on a day to day basis rather than implanting new ideas that haven't been trialled.

I have been working at J Sainsbury full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good management, only within the company for 6 months before being put forward for progression. Good training. Serious about their customer service and quality.

    Cons

As a supervisor for convenience stores, you often get put in a different store according to the company needs with very little to no notice.

    Advice to Management

Majority of the management I have met have been genuine, nice, friendly people who really care about how their store is doing, their colleagues and customers.

I have been working at J Sainsbury part-time

    Pros

Can easily work around other commitments such as uni so it's perfect for students. And you are encouraged to progress in the company.

    Cons

Not many benefits you get the main 10% off but when customers who don't work there get £9 off a £90 its basically the same to be a customer.

I have been working at J Sainsbury full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great engagement in the company, they really put their colleagues first and at the core of everything they do.
Great benefits such as 10% discount which is regally increased to 15% discount.
The best thing I like about Sainsbury's is that they really live their values. where most companies will have values and not adhere to them. Sainsbury's really keeps its values at the heart of everything to to, which is great to see as a manager.
Absolutely great work life balance as a single mother I was able to balance my career with being a mum and my senior leadership team and managers were fully supportive. They really measure you on your output and not your input into the role

    Cons

The biggest downside about sainsbury's especially at management position is that progress is slow. Sainsbury's regularly procrastinates on too many things and tends to not move at pace with certain things. The systems in Sainsbury's are very archaic and most of the time you are inputting data 3 times into three different systems. Also when yo want to progress your career I wouldn't say its difficult but it is all about who you know coupled with lack or senior leadership jobs to move talent into. And the can be quite frustrating for people to move into.
One of my real bug bears was not greta compensation and benefits at management level, such as no car allowance for roles below store managers that needed it. And a poor basic salary for certain roles that really isn't competitive agains the industry standard

    Advice to Management

Create better career progression for certain management roles otherwise people great people will leave

    Pros

Staff discount, opportunity to learn all departments and skills. Could progress if you wanted.

    Cons

Low hour contracts, poor management, won't supply correct ppe, no team work. Hard workers penalised

    Advice to Management

    Do your jobs properly

I have been working at J Sainsbury full-time

    Pros

10% Discount, Yearly Bonus, Six weeks holiday a year, Many stores to chose from if distance to your current store is too far

    Cons

Progression although evident is very hard to come by as stores only get a few places a year at most dependent on the store

    Advice to Management

Give your team leaders more feedback as a lot of them run the department more than managers
