I have been working at J Sainsbury part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overtime regular, good team, equal wage and okay bonus.

    Cons

You ask for different shifts or to book holiday and manager and other team leaders don't do it, long shifts on your feet mostly just standing around!

    Advice to Management

Make sure you do what you say your going to do and not let your staff down!

I worked at J Sainsbury part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Big staff room, flexible hours for students, made friends on induction days

    Cons

Working there 1st time there was no flexibility at all, I had a 30 min break in 9 hours (as 16 year old). Pay decent, wasn't allowed to be trained elsewhere so job was very dull for me.

    Advice to Management

When I worked there on a part time contract as a full time AS student it was very difficult to balance everything, yet had no support from anyone apart from 1 colleague. No flexibility as we were so short staffed. Very dull as I was 'too young' to be trained anywhere besides the tills.

    Pros

    Great colleagues
    Good work culture
    Interview process was straightforward
    Lots of team building
    Managers are fairly patient

    Cons

Expected to do a lot on the night shift, not given necessary amount of breaks and constantly under pressure to hit unrealistic targets

    Advice to Management

    Listen to employers more

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

Decent and equal pay, flexible (ish) hours, 12 hour minimum contract, overtime available, decent holiday, possible bonus, 10% discount- including argos and 20% at habitat, some benefits, toilets good place to cry

    Cons

3 sick days allowed per year, bonuses revoked if more than 3 sick days are taken in one year, little to no choice when booking holiday, risk of injury, no support should injury happen, only treated fairly if well liked by staff, customers can be brutal, sexism everywhere all the time, not a very good job.

    Advice to Management

Support employees, make it clear they are all equal, don't let them get hurt

    Pros

Good pay rate and easily flexible, focus highly on customer service which is good. They do respect colleagues and try to make it a better place to work.

    Cons

No opportunity to promote or get higher a higher position unless you know someone in management. Don't get enough holidays throughout the year either

    Pros

Decent hourly pay to say what the job entails. Not a bad working environment friendly staff and management. Good job if wanting something part time whilst having other commitments, management were very accommodating to me whilst studying at uni, they allowed me to have days off for studying etc

    Cons

Customers are rude, but can only expect from any customer service environment. Not really much of else to say about cons
