    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at J Sainsbury full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

local, decent benefits. the memories of what the company used to be like to work for.

    Cons

External Managers paid more than internal climbers. feels like the change coming in to the business so quickly requires new managers to the business rather than getting the existing managers on side and working with them. alot of poor decisions made for poor reasons which stores then have to deal with

    Advice to Management

value those that are in the business already. external managers tend to be the first out the door.

I worked at J Sainsbury full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good training programme, lots of locations to work in.

Focus is on squeezing pennies, not on supporting teams. Bit of an old boys club mentality.

Former Employee - Deputy Store Manager in Saint Albans, England

    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at J Sainsbury full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Endless opportunities to progress, and take progression into your own hands with support from area teams. Great training programmes at all levels and a brand you can be proud to work for. Opportunities to meet key personnel within the business - met Mike Coupe when he first joined the company.

    Cons

Work/Life balance near impossible when managing small local stores. Convenience always pay the price for Supermarkets poor performance. Can be assigned stores that are up to 50 miles from your home, often working 14 hours once travel is accounted for.

    Advice to Management

Crack the whip in Supermarkets rather than 'cost cutting' Convenience. Saw way too many bodies doing absolutely nothing in Supermarkets whilst the our labour budgets in Local were down to the bone, impacting running of the store. Security Guards - for the safety of employee and customer, not just your stock.
