    Pros

There is nothing positive about this employer.

    Cons

They require teachers to give As to students who haven't earned them and to keep parents happy. They administer outdated standardized tests for show then throw them away without collecting any data. They are about making money, not teaching children. They lie. They are immoral. Run like hell and never look back.

    Hot mess

Aug 25, 2020 - Teacher At Appletree in Fairfax, VA

    Pros

Director of the school itself is very caring towards the staff, parents and children become very close treating teachers like family and really show their appreciation including hosting luncheons throughout the years.

    Cons

A mess. The Meritt Academy or J127 is run by a family and Appletree is treated like the red headed step child with worse food quality compared to the main school and less resources. Most teachers are older, set in their ways, and very cliquey, spending the majority of their day gossiping. Pay is also very bad for a private school that gets a ton of money from tuition. Appletree is part of a foundation that is rumored to be shady in the finance department and raises each year are less than 1k to your base. You also have to work a lot outside of school and your schedule changes each day requiring teachers to take turns staying until 5 or 6 pm one day a week. There was rarely any time off, having to work under any circumstance, unless you’re a mother with children.

    Pros

Pay is excellent, kids are great, employees are fun and easy.

    Cons

kowtow to parents whimsies, inconsistent managers with no education in pre-K education. usually make last minute decisions which suddenly becomes teacher problem which takes away from kids and academics.

This is a scam and a fraud

    Pros

There is some good work being done, especially by the local employees who genuinely care about the children.

    Cons

I cannot believe the amount of money the founder of this foundation is able to get away with after numerous fundraisers and donations. So much of it is going straight back into her pockets. I hope someone catches on and is ready to stand up against her - she will twist any story to become the victim and she will play the cute girl card any chance she gets. I highly recommend anyone to never consider supporting this foundation when there are so many good ones out there.
