I worked at JB Hi-Fi full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of practice in troubleshooting and playing with equipment; chance of making complete decisions on network design, plan and implementation

    Cons

No career progression; each ST usually stays with their set of clients for as long as you decide to move. Pay is below standard. There is hardly any chance of moving to corporate.

    Advice to Management

    Career progression

I have been working at JB Hi-Fi part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Really good staff discounts; they vary in amount by a lot though. Good team culture, support peers, though there are some that can be rude

    Cons

Two of my managers are very rude who have a group of cronies, the rest are amazing and very supportive Can get very competitive with regard to budgets and daily sales numbers; lots of one-upmanship but I guess it fosters a strong work ethic

    Advice to Management

Be careful about who you promote to management; keep up the generally good store culture

      Doesn't Recommend

I worked at JB Hi-Fi part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Great staff discounts, the role is easy

      Cons

The work can be mind numbing if you’re not in sales. Management will drive you mad, especially trying to get non-sales team to meet KPIs. In my store, salespeople were solely male and women were often knocked back when they attempted to move across. Very “boys-club” culture with the occasional sexist joke.

      Advice to Management

Improve culture and watch the rest change.
