I have been working at JCP Salon & Spa part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good job if you are fresh out of hair school.

    Cons

I have been an employee at JCP salon for 2 years. I am a great employee. I never call off. I have a great clientele. I am a hard worker. Just recently, being that I am 35 weeks pregnant, I filed for my maternity leave. I meet all the requirements needed to take this leave. The store manager is trying to rob me of my leave. How can you deny an expecting mother her right to a maternity leave? Like I stated previously, I have been a dependable employee to this JCP for going on two years. This is an example of how management treats the employees.

    Advice to Management

    Be professional!!

I have been working at JCP Salon & Spa part-time

    Pros

Great coworkers, wonderful team - the stars are for them or there would be no stars here at all. This is a good starting point for newbies to gain confidence if they are able to get walk-ins, but they should get out as quickly as possible after that.

    Cons

Salon is very old and totally run down! The back bar runs out of products often, including color. There are broken doors on cabinets, electrical sockets that don't work properly, floors rarely cleaned, only once in the last year, slow drains that often smell of sewage. Phone lines are often down, as well as the store elevator and escalators. Computer system is ridiculously slow.

    Advice to Management

Salon needs a total overhaul although we've been told that is NOT happening). The new manager needs to show up and actually run things; also learn how to lead without hostility and intimidation!

I have been working at JCP Salon & Spa part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

At the salon as a receptionist, you are eligible for a raise every 6 months. The hours are very flexible and the atmosphere is very fun to work in.

    Cons

Sometimes it can be very stressful to work in the environment, standing on your feet for long hours is tiring, learning new scheduling systems is challenging

    Advice to Management

Give receptionists more hours, don't have hours of receptionists reflect whether or not the salon meets their goal, only hire the best of the best and reliable workers.

    Pros

Product Lines, Employees, Everything is provided for you

    Cons

Getting paid 7.50 an hour, Music selection, Drabby Layout

    Advice to Management

We need a higher pay, we provide a luxury service to the community so our pay should reflect that. We also need better music that is more up to date and not playing on a constant loop.

I have been working at JCP Salon & Spa part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Wide variety of walk-ins ensures great learning experience. Product is supplied. Hourly rate is for sure if salon is slow. Extremely flexible schedule.

    Cons

Minimum wage starting pay if no clientele is signed on at hire. Not much training past the required boring videos and signing paper work. Blind sided by salon leaders bad moods.

    Advice to Management

Lose some attitude. Do more JCP training rather than just throw stylists on the floor and let them learn things the hard way.

    Pros

Salon staff remain motivated to perform their best even when threatened about job loss

    Cons

Upper store Management seemed to develop their own rules as each day progressed.

    Advice to Management

Fairness towards all employees and genuine concern for employees should be considered and must be improved in order to retain talent.
