I worked at JD Williams full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good people to work with, creates good atmosphere. Has potential to be great again. Good central Manchester location. Good social life (non work organised)

    Cons

General feeling of doom and gloom over the company. Current CEO and CIO presiding over, and the architects of the downfall of once great company. Too much being outsourced to 3rd parties, with little or no interest in the long term interests of the business.

    Advice to Management

Stop 'jobs for the boys' from previous roles, hire independent individuals that are not afraid to tell the truth. Listen to them. Invest in your staff, make them grow, and they will remain loyal.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at JD Williams full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The main reason people stay and work at JD Willams is because location is good and central, options to buy extra holidays is a plus and pay and benefits ok but are heavily skewed towards senior management.

    Cons

JD Williams Quote... "we’re more than just a successful company – we’re a model of excellence" For a company that claims to be a model of excellence, they know nothing about their own staff. Nothing at all. Very disappointing. CEO and management team completely out of their depth and destroying what was once a great company. Constant changes of direction, appalling...

    Advice to Management

I see a lot of managers with many years of experience... but using this simple maths equation I can easily explain why managers don't have a full understanding on how to manage people correctly and why there is a constant need to suppress and treat their staff on a daily basis with a lack of respect. 1yr x 20yr = ___________ 1 years experience times-ed by 20 years employed by the same company. ---------------------------------...

    Cons

New CEO and management team completely out of their depth and destroying what was once a great company. Constant changes of direction, appalling treatment of loyal staff who are 'made redundant' because their faces no longer fit, or their managers simply want to get rid of them. Staff morale at an all-time low. Looking at the people who have been promoted or recruited into...

    Advice to Management

The CEO was given a golden hello and has delivered nothing but poor results and profit warnings. Listen to people who actually understand the business and stop treating people like dirt.
