I worked at JDSU full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Nice Salary structure.
    2. Flexible Timings
    3. Office situated in the center of Pune, so easy for daily commute from any part of the city
    4. Many leaves are given, more than a lot of the service-based consultancies, so if your work is balanced, you will be able to enjoy vacations
    5. Lastly, if you are coming from a service background, then the amount of learning you will get here, will be tremendous, as you need to take ownership of stuffs and work on them yourself. Right from communicating with users over the globe, to the different phases of SDLC.

    Cons

    1. Management of teams can be a bit more effective.
    2. More full-time resources need to be hired, instead going through the contractor path.

    Advice to Management

Please hire folks with the right attitude. Don't only go for technical skills or certifications. If required, please do a market analysis on the trending salaries of the different technologies. For hiring good quality resources, a slightly higher package needs to be offered to the candidates.

I worked at JDSU (Less than a year)

    Pros

I wish I could think of something special but it is pretty run of the mill. Actually, they are very adept at making stuff nobody wants to buy.

    Cons

Entrenched clique of folks that have survived being sold a number of times. Unwilling to put in place any corporate structure that enforces accountability. Layoffs occur often to boost the perception the company is profitable, or as a result of a knee jerk change of technical direction. Been around for many years yet operates like a startup, including the fear of closing the doors if next quarter profits are down.

    Advice to Management

Why bother? They haven't listened so far.

    Pros

Great products, tons of experienced folks who are dedicated. Good benefits.

    Cons

If you're coming into a territory that sold over quota the year before, it might be a challenge to make new sales for a while.

    Advice to Management

Management can be too intense at times. It ruins the momentum
