    Advice to Management

Give management training to all Managers and Supervisor, how to deal with your employees.

    Pros

    Excellent health benefits
Unlimited vacation if you can get your manger's approval
Work can be extremely interesting, challenging and fun

    Cons

Senior management is incompetent and elitist, no MBWA
    Many coworkers are incompetent
    English is a second language
Corporate infrastructure is nonexistent or incompetent
It is in a cyclical, boom and bust sector

    Advice to Management

Resign and have real executives apply to the board. The company is broken and can only be fixed with people who have a vision for a better more successful company.

    Pros

A stepping stone to better jobs in the Telecom Industry

    Cons

Not a performance based culture. Hiring from the outside is preferable to promoting from within. Does not promote diversity. Extremely political where employees are watching their backs vs. taking actions in the best interests of customers and shareholders.

    Advice to Management

More with less eventually leads to less and less!

    Pros

Nice facility in Germantown. Lower-level management has some knowledge of actual products and customers. Good benefits package. Good engineers at the company.

    Cons

I was laid off, so I'm probably not completely objective. Completely short-term focused upper/middle management. Only concerned about performance on a quarter-by-quarter basis and progress toward the "BHAG" (A meaningless term if ever there was one).

    Advice to Management

A sustainable company is one with meaningful long-term goals. Making a bunch of money in the current quarter is not the goal that will get you there.

    Pros

Decenet compensation and benefits, 1st level management is OK

    Cons

Senior management is clueless, brought from outside and doesn't understand business at all; they fire people with industry nowledge and keep yes-man. They're gambling on 100-200% growth (BHAG) since they're uncapable of managing existing products. If they lose this gamble, the still get their golden parachutes, so they don't care about anything. Also, amount of top management is ridiculous - 75% of them could be fired without any effect, andinstead engineers can be retained to develop new products. NSD acquisition is almost complete bust - we bought 15-year old product and offshore R&D centers who took 3-4-5 years to execute even a simple task.

    Advice to Management

Resign. Let people who grew in a company (respective divisions) run them - you're a failure and a joke.

    Pros

There are some smart developers that you can learn new technologies from, if given the chance.
The dress code is very casual.

    Cons

There is no direction or innovation for tomorrow's products. Just maintaining the current products which leads to poor work morale. Very little room for technical advancement since it is really not encouraged or

    Advice to Management

Management seems to worry too much about the now and not the future.
Employees and products need to grow for a company to grow.
There is not enough information sharing with employees about the planned roadmap for the company especially more than a quarter out.
