    I worked at JELD-WEN full-time

    Pros

    Nothing good about this place!

    Cons

This job was terrible. I would not recommend anyone to work there. You can't plan anything when you get told half an hour before your shift ends that you have to stay 4 more hours. They are not safety oriented at all.

    Advice to Management

Stop being all about yourselves! Think about your employees and their families even a little.

    Pros

You could plan what you need done for that day.

    Cons

Lead by example. I saw a manger lecture a coworker for not wearing dress shoes, and the very next day he was wearing sneakers. This kind of thing happens all the time.

    Advice to Management

If you expect something done ASAP the least you can do is respond to your employees via email or a phone call.

    Pros

None of the managers know anything about IT so you can BS them into thinking you are important while you watch YouTube videos all day.

    Cons

Low salaries, huge processes, IT completely bogged down by legacy garbage. New projects take forever to start and are never allowed to be done correctly.

    Advice to Management

Fire your old, incompetent managers. Reduce your processes and focus on results. Work on doing things right rather than doing things fast.

    I worked at JELD-WEN full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Provides a significant product line to the building products customer.

    Cons

Horrendous decisions by prior management have contributed to deep management change-over and a short term business mentality to "make things look better...yesterday". This has resulted in significant head-count reduction (at their largest facility, where I worked), which makes product quality, consistency, and customer service impossible to maintain as it once was. For example, their Technical Dept which once had 14 members now has 4. The level of due diligence is not possible to maintain with a cut that deep. Other departments have been similarly down-sized, or should I say "right sized" to fit current management speak.

I would not suggest working here until all the smoke clears...you will be happier for it!

    Advice to Management

Listen more closely to employees with a track record of excellence.
Listen more closely to employees whose work will be affected by your decisions.
Listen more closely to those closest to the customer base.
    Sum it up...LISTEN!

    "Toxicity at its peak"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Nothing- an ultimately terrible experience working for a company / plant who strives to deteriorate employee satisfaction.

    Cons

High attrition for employees who are trained. Delivered error-ridden results of employee feedback directly to employees themselves. Consistent threat of termination to loyal employees on a regular basis for trivial infractions.Timed bathroom breaks of employees and fired employees whom "took too long" while using the bathroom. Not veteran friendly. Leadership skylines and insults employees behind their backs during manager meetings. Little to no value placed on employee's dedication, efforts, sincerity, and time. Salaried managers forced to work 80 hour weeks; paid for 40- no overtime. GM has a Nepolian complex. No continuity.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house.

    Pros

Have a paycheck. Can't think of anything else.

    Cons

Low pays, outdated procedures, no focus on employees, no development/training opportunities. No career growth. Location.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees nice, be more people focused.

    Pros

Some good, well intentioned people still work there.

    Cons

    3 CEOs in 4 years
Owned by Wall Street investors who have gutted most of the company and only care about getting their money back, not the fact that they're going to be selling off a company that will be completely dysfunctional to the next owner.

    Advice to Management

Being the biggest jerks in the room with the biggest paychecks doesn't make you the smartest people in the room.

I have been working at JELD-WEN full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers are like my family. I spend more time with them than I do my own, sadly.

    Cons

The list is long. I don't know a single employee that I work with who likes his/her job. It is a miserable place. Over worked and underpaid is an understatement here! Management does not care about the health, safety and welfare of the employees whatsoever. It is all about the numbers. Hours are too long (12 hr shifts) with a half hour lunch break. Imagine being on your feet for that long, making wages that just get you by from month to month and spending minimal time with family and friends because you are miserably tired on your days off.

    Advice to Management

Read the cons. Overworked, tired and unhappy employees get injured on the job more often. Pay more, value the employees and hire more employees so one person doesn't have to do the work of two (or three).
