You will find a variety of people from diverse background.

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, good work, plenty of mandatory overtime, company seems to be expanding, meetings seem useful, communication is very open up the chain of command, seems to be decent ability to win job bids.

    Cons

Management isn't great, there is a lack , of good training, they can't seem to retain new hires (though this is a problem in most factories), several departments seem understaffed due to low cross training and departmental isolation, and other related issues, communications between shifts is sub-par, night shifts are chronically undertrained, line warehouseman are routinely on line because of inability to staff and train positions properly.

    Advice to Management

Hire enough people to get the job done.

    Pros

Established and competitive position in the market. Marketing spend is being activated and helping with brand awareness which provides leads as well as confidence with customers and employees.

    Cons

Current company culture is a challenge. On the surface the right things are said but the actions of the management team towards their employees is short sided. This breeds a culture of fear rather than creativity.

    Advice to Management

Spend time training and mentoring employees at all levels.

    I have been working at JELD-WEN full-time

    Pros

they pay you decent here and after 90 days can receive full benefits. the people you work around aren't usually terrible.

    Cons

The reason you get paid decent is because swing shift is not for everyone. It also is very hot inside during the summer.

    Advice to Management

Take employee input into consideration when making decisions from time to time.

    I have been working at JELD-WEN part-time

    Pros

There is a great management team in the department I work for. They have an understanding of family importance.
    The medical benefits are "okay".

    Cons

The pay could be more. SHOULD be more. They could also give an attaboy every once in a while.
Discounts for their window products are slim to none, and a rigorous criteria to meet to even qualify.

    Advice to Management

Realize the value of good employees. There is a high turn over rate because they pay is not that great. You spend more in training employees than you would if you would pay better to keep the great, hard working employees you already have.
