Great place to work, great staff, flexible scheduling. I would recommend to a friend. Benefits are amazing!
Rewarding and satisfying career working in a hospital
Having a positive impact on patients' lives
Job stability, which is not impacted by a recession
Working in a team environment with other healthcare workers, including MDs, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, and more
Good salary, which is dependent upon the specific facility and job title. Hospital nurses usually earn a higher salary than in a private office or other ancillary facility
Healthcare benefits are usually offered, based on the individual facility
Stimulating environment, which is non-stop, around-the-clock
Exposure to germs being around many sick people
Sometimes the parking options are competitive, especially in large urban areas. Staff is usually offered satellite parking because patient-only parking is often adjacent to the hospital
Frustration when patients do not get better. It is difficult to watch patients struggle or die in the hospital
Hospital work requires 24/7/365 coverage, which includes weekends and holidays, not typical “office hours.” The expansive hours must be fully covered in order to deliver safe and efficient patient care throughout the hospital
Exposure to unruly patients (anger, intoxication, belligerent, loud, physically reactive) in the workplace can create a difficult environment
The unknown factor about what or who will be a patient can make some jobs unpredictable, which can increase the stress factor
I have been working at JFK Medical Center (More than 3 years)
Pay is competitive with raises
Management tends to use underlying threats if you complain
I have been working at JFK Medical Center full-time (More than a year)
Great benefits, friendly coworkers, clean environment.
Poor enforcement of protocols as they should be in certain areas. Patients safety over looked for sake of "budget". Short staffed frequently, floors staffed according to patient census.
Advice to Management
High more staff to accommodate patient ratios. Stick to "RULES FAIRLY" and apply them all the time to one and all.
NONE. None. None. None. None.
SEVERELY underqualified and unprofessional people allowed to be supervisors in the admitting department. Played favorites, decided to dislike me from the moment they met me for no reason at all. I was always super polite and respectful.
Advice to Management
Hire supervisors that areally qualified and actually know how to interact with other human beings without being spiteful and petty. The culture there is horrendous.
free lunches, 2 lunch breaks depending on how long your shift is. meeting new people. over time is offered.
no management whatsoever, treated poorly, you wont get recognized for anything you do.

Local, stable, continuity. The culture is long standing. Because of this you either will fit right in or need to move on just as quickly.
I think that a select group is "looked after" and it can be difficult to voice an opinion if it goes against the "norms" of a particular department.
Advice to Management
Do your best to acknowledge these are changing times and that we as an organization need to get with them.
mostly okay, good coworkers at times
staffing, management, requesting time off
