I worked at JIMS (More than a year)

    Pros

Great culture, great people to work with. Laid back environment. Teamwork environment.

    Cons

When there are problems, people look on who to blame instead of solutions. Current company rules and procedures are not followed instead, they do whatever they've been doing for "20 years". Gossips and rumors can roam around. There's no clear development plan. Unqualified people get management positions and hinders the company's development.

    Advice to Management

Jim, the owner, is the only smart person in management. The other people in management are either severely under qualified and/or way too demanding which only serves as an annoyance to Jim which has to babysit the management, therefore there's a lot of micromanagement. All in all there's a famous saying that goes like this.

"There's the right way and there's the JIMS way"

I have no advice for management since they like it exactly the way it is. The management is a group of friends that have shared many experiences together and to them their friendship is more important than the health of the company so they rather work with that instead of doing the right thing.

    Pros

JIMS is a family owned business and as such they are more than accomadating when it comes to your personal schedule

    Cons

Run by an owner who is a Machinest and a smart and savy motorcycle parts maker but he lacks any formal education and tends to surround himself with friends rather than competent managers. There are a few bright spots in his staff but they are few and far between

    Advice to Management

JIMS needs to get serious on taking the company forward by hiring staff with true buisness skill sets. His company could grow by leaps and bounds if Jim would step down and hire a true business manager.
