I have been working at JLL full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Firm is evolving to focus on the human experience which includes their employees, clients and customers. Nice office space, decent 401k match. Flexibility to work from home.

    Cons

Very corporate, political, hard to get exposure in such a big firm in order to be recognized or promoted, unless you know the right people. Firm operates very lean, employees are stretched thin and business is tasked with doing more with less employees. Very siloed, so hard to collaborate to get things done.

    Advice to Management

Less reactive approach to how the organization is structured when trying to manage to plan. JLL talks about career development but I don't see it. Focus on your skilled trades and invest in building that pipeline.

I worked at JLL full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work environment, I enjoyed the people in the office. A decent amount of amenities available to employees (free coffee, kitchen, dish ware for use).

    Cons

I had a horrible micro manager who created an extremely hostile working environment for myself and my co-workers. This manager had a previous record of treating their employees this way. I tried to go to Human Resources to help but ha they sided with the manager and didn’t care what I had to say or the managers’ precious record. Only care about employees who have been there a long time.

    Advice to Management

Explain what needs done and then trust your employees. Stay away from office services.

I worked at JLL full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The best thing about working for JLL in Chicago is the fancy building and office. The Aon Center is a cool building in a great location and JLL's office space is newly renovated.

The place is crawling with millennials, which is great if you're a millennial.

The salary can be really competitive if you're good at negotiating upon accepting a job or being promoted. Don't settle for their first offer, they can always do better.

    Cons

The Marketing department is an absolute mess. They have no idea what they're doing. The words "restructuring" and "reorganization" have been floating around for over six months. Just an absolute lack of transparency. People are worried about their jobs.

There's been a lot of turnover in Marketing leadership within the last year. The head of digital marketing just left for a different role, the PR department is being completely overhauled and they just lost their most reliable leader, and the communications team has been falling apart for months. A couple firings, a couple people quit, it's not a good situation.

    Advice to Management

Stop fooling yourself into thinking you're one of the best places in Chicago to work and start listening to your employees. People are seriously unhappy. Treat people with respect and actually live up the values you paint all over your websites. Reward people based on merit, not favoritism.
