    Pros

Great pay package and benefits. Highly profitable and stable company

    Cons

The internal culture is hard for new hires and can be perceived as not inclusive. Long term employees don't turn over much. Almost all the turnover is in recent hires. Don't feel like your a true part of the organization for years.

    Advice to Management

With a workforce high in tenure, management needs to look at how to better meld the company values with their new hires. The intent is there but the execution needs attention.

    Pros

Great benefits. Great place to retire from.

    Cons

No growth opportunities, no one leaves. Heavy politics. Relationships valued over getting things done, hence they are slow to adopt and "nice" people are valued over doers which is why they have a hard time moving forward. Great at the status quo.

    Advice to Management

Hire leaders who can lead and let them lead. Take risks, innovate, be creative.

    Pros

Great benefits, senior management cares about employees, company gives back to the community.

    Cons

Company is extremely high in politics and nepotism; many places are but here it's to the extreme of extremes. The result is that it is almost impossible to grow unless you fit into one of the two categories.

    Advice to Management

Provide more equal opportunity based on merit.

    Pros

Benefits are great, Cafe is awesome, Great people to work with. Nice location. Everything is always clean and workspaces are a good size.

    Cons

No one wants to leave and so there are limited growth opportunities. Also there are way too many meetings. Many are hired simply for being related to someone else in the company, rather than their own qualifications

    Advice to Management

Develop a more linear growth process and career paths for employees. Let them work towards something. Don't hire just because of someone's relation to someone in your company.

I have been working at JM Family Enterprises (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, salary and compensation are OK.

    Cons

Too much work, no work life balance. Managers have no authority, might have intentions of helping but can't. Middle management is clueless and their plans are half baked. This provides senior management a distorted view of what reality is.

    Advice to Management

Too many chefs not enough cooks. Stop finding ways to promote your friends to directors and VPs, You need to actually help your people, the ones you say you are there for, not just say it.

I worked at JM Family Enterprises full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits. Great cafeterias, free coffee/tea, nail/hair salon, gym, company events, continuing education -- best I've ever experienced.

    Cons

Major league backbiting and politics. I worked for a very strange and fairly new department which will go unnamed. Very intelligent people, but oh-so lacking in reality. No professional savvy with the group I worked for and most of the people either kept to themselves or paired off with a few others. You won't be 'let in' to the group. Don't even try to ask for help ... you are pretty much on your own. The person who ran this unique department had major ego issues ... most of them did. They use Gmail as their company email platform --- odd, odd, odd. If you are a contractor, your chances of being hired permanently are quite slim, regardless of what recruiters tell you.

    Advice to Management

Enough with the good ole boy network. Enough with the over reaching egos --- JM is not the only cool place to work, so get over yourselves. This Kool-Aid drinking environment is "so ten minutes ago". You are not splitting the atom or curing cancer, so enough. You are not the next Stephen Hawking -- climb down off the ego ladder, please. Listen to your employees.
