I have been working at JPS Health Network full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nurse Residency program with mentors made learning and performing as a new nurse easier than other places.

    Cons

Hard to get information about what is going on sometimes.

    Advice to Management

Get a better way to communicate to all staff.

I have been working at JPS Health Network full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Opportunities to see lots of illnesses and conditions. Always have open shifts. Hospital capabilities are high. Plenty of nice people to work around.

    Cons

Overcrowded, filthy. High nurse:patient ratios. Unsafe care. Staffing is always a problem, but patient load never really falls. Graduate nurse residency program is a joke and the leader is awful.

    Advice to Management

Provide better support for your nurses and staff areas appropriately. Look hard at your GN program. It is doing the opposite of it's intended purpose.

I worked at JPS Health Network full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Awesome team to work with, especially in the ED. Great mission, lots of opportunity to build experience.

    Cons

Chronically understaffed and working with unsafe nurse to patient ratios, especially when there are no admit beds. ED nurses should not have 1-2 ICU holds PLUS another 4-6 patients.

    Advice to Management

Expand ED so patients are not being treated in the halls, and staff to a safe nurse to patient ratio.

I worked at JPS Health Network full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits and great coworkers. Easy to make lateral moves between departments.

    Cons

Inexperienced managers in key front-door departments. One department manager unable to establish eye contact and disturbing that they have not addressed this.

    Advice to Management

If you can't take care of your own, how can you take care of the patients?
