    Pros

Good pay, decent medical coverage, pretty good 401k with company match

    Cons

They are always trying to see if you screw up so they can get rid of you. A lot of 2 faced people who work there.

    Advice to Management

Stop pretending to not know what actually happens. They even have names attached to some current supervisors for practices that they came up with.

I have been working at JR Simplot full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with that accomplish a lot with minimal staff. Flexible schedule or at least it used to be.

    Cons

HP takeover in IT has caused mora to go into the toilet. Don't care about people anymore - all about the process. Becoming a GLOBAL company and leaving the locals behind!

    Advice to Management

Wake up and notice that since Debbie has passed that it appears you no longer care for the employees.

    Pros

Great people, employees seem to care about one another and the company. Pay is good and lots of opportunity to earn overtime.

    Cons

The upper management doesn't really care about the employees. It is a private company so they can do what they like and they take care of the ones that they like.

    Advice to Management

If they only practiced what they say that they believe. It is ALL about money and bottom line. I have never seen such waste of money than at the plant in Caldwell.

I have been working at JR Simplot full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good solid global company with diverse holdings. More forward looking in recent years in effort to stay competitive in the marketplace. Competitive salary and benefits for position. I have worked with and met a lot of good people in my time with the Company.

    Cons

In my position I put in a lot of hours (average of 47+ hours/week over the 9.5 years worked for the company). In recent years the Company has adopted a policy of using up/dumping employees thru consolidation of plants/positions. In other words, a diminishing sense of loyalty to employees regardless of tenure with the company.

I have been working at JR Simplot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company culture. The company has a wide variety of opportunities to develop your career. Benefits are OK. This is a private company, thus lower uncertainty on corporate functions being relocated/integrated with other entity. It has a family oriented culture and and the Company is aware of work/life balance for its employees. Great place to work.

    Cons

Compensation is known to be not one of the greatest benefits for this company (like most other private companies). Benefits are not very competitive compared to large public companies. However, its culture and values are great.

    Pros

Good 401K. Company is well respected by customers and community.

    Cons

There are some good leaders but most of them are terrible. Not many mentors. It is very difficult to move around the company. Politics squander valuable time and resources that could be used more appropriately to the benefit of the company and it's customers. Yes, every company has the 'ole political game but wow.....the level of dysfunction is unfortunate for the many talented and dedicated employees who work there.

    Pros

Pay was average, average benefits that included health insurance and 401K

    Cons

3 on 3 off 12 hour shifts that took a lot to get used to

    Pros

    Job security
    pay is good
    top of the industry

    Cons

good ol' boys club, slow pace, very reactionary, very little room to move up. Slow to embrace technology. poor vacation time,

    Advice to Management

Be honest about hiring external hires over internal hires. Vacation time is really low. The company is fine with us staying in the same position for 25 years, today's culture is not accepting of that.
