I worked at JRM Construction Management full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, sometimes have Saturday’s off.

    Cons

Zero work life balance, expect to work 12 hours a day 6 days a week. Angry uneducated people are leading the company. Can not emphasize enough how horrible your personal life will be impacted if you join this boiler room.

    Advice to Management

Hire people that have experience managing people. Don’t just had the torch to someone.

I worked at JRM Construction Management full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay; good people to work with; fun company parties at nice venues; often give away company sports tickets to employees; well-structured rotation program for new college graduates

    Cons

Long hours including nights and weekends; poor work-life balance; management does not treat employees or subcontractors with respect; little room for growth internally; too much paperwork for field staff - those who are well connected get preferential treatment and assistants; micro-management of projects by PMs & executives can be frustrating

    Advice to Management

Take steps to improve work-life balance and limit workloads for construction personnel; benefits and PTO could use improvement; hire Assistant PMs to assist with paperwork and allow field staff to focus on field activities

I worked at JRM Construction Management full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and some great people to work with.

    Cons

Hard company for a female to succeed; females need to work harder to get ahead and still looked at as “admins” no matter how knowledgeable you are. The “ favoratism” with certain employees is very discouraging - they get the perks and promotions and don’t do any of the work. Health Benefits were horrible and work/life balance was bad. HR is very difficult to speak too.

    Advice to Management

Promote the hard workers and get more females in the PD/PM roles. Dissolve the “favoritism” mentality. Start appreciating and rewarding the “hard workers” and remove the employees (PD’s/ PM’s / Super’s) that are taking advantage of the company. Need to re- build company moral.

I have been working at JRM Construction Management (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive salaries. Aggressive office culture. A lot of "Type A" people. A lot of young, intelligent employees.

    Cons

Long hours and little regard for work/life balance - this must change or they will lose their best talent.

Older field staff needs to catch up to the rest of society - uneducated, poorly dressed, and need to learn how to speak to people.

    Pros

I've worked in the construction industry for many years and this is one of the best companies I've ever worked for. They offer great benefits to employees and fun social functions. I see myself staying here for the long haul. No place is perfect...its what you make of it. I feel very confident and productive in this environment.

    Cons

    Summer Fridays would be nice

    Advice to Management

I have been working at JRM Construction Management full-time

    Pros

Large sized, fast growing company with the personal touch feeling. Open door policy encourages and allows employees to express their opinions or concerns about any subject. The company is result oriented, promotes and rewards hard work and values passionate and engaged employees. Competitive salaries and wide range of benefits offered.

    Cons

No company is perfect, every working environment has some hiccups here and there. Focus on the positive rather than the negative.

    Advice to Management

    Consider flexible work schedule.

I worked at JRM Construction Management full-time

    Pros

The majority of people there are decent people and easy enough to get along with. Office in convenient location. They pay well.

    Cons

Rigid office culture. Mandatory 8 to 5 in the office, no work from home, long hours. Poor benefits and vacation time. Management lacking actual time and managerial skills. No training. Jobs offers are fictitious. They offer people certain titles and responsibilities and then use them how they see fit rather than what was promised. Serious concern about growing pains and properly scaling.

    Advice to Management

While bringing in talent helps, the incumbents have to have the time and be willing to provide guidance and provide structure or growth can spiral out of control.
